It is definitely the main attraction in Panama. It is quite impressive to see how these huge ships get lifted by the power of water in a few minutes and also to learn the whole story behind this engineering miracle.

Don't miss this while in Panama. It is fascinating to see the large cargo ships pass through the Panama Canal. Entry fee is minimal and includes a 10 minute 3D movie and the museum. There is a restaurant with views of the canal and you can stay as long as you want watching the ships. Just outside of Panama City.

Nothing like it in the world. The history and scope of the Canal is incredible. The amount of trade going through the locks is incredible.

Well worth a visit! We got a cab there and got the 8 dollar ticket which includes entrance to a ten min 3d film really interesting. A well thought through museum ! Great viewing platform
. Was very amazed by this project and how it serves the entire world !
Don't miss it!
One very small thing - the gift shop most over priced I ave ever seen. 9 for a ruler 50 for a hat ! Ridiculous . But then again everyone knows gift shops over priced

My wife and I explored the canal by helicopter (Helipan -www.helipan.com). We took off from the old airfield at the former US Air Force Albrook Field (now called the Marcos A. Gelabert Airport) and flew from the Pacific side to the Atlantic side and back in about one hour. We also explored the Chagres River and did a loop around the new Panama City (including the D. Trump and the Tornillo (screw) buildings.
I was glad I discovered the flying option, because the canal boat tours are far and few between. and none were available during our visit.
