“Location is great.”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

This is a well located hotel for visiting Panama City.
Clean, large rooms and good breakfast buffet.
Good area to walk around with great local restaurants.
If you are going on tours of the Cannal, old town and casco viejo this makes a great base.
Close to Multiplaza, a newly built mall with a good variety of shops. For $12 in a local taxi you can go to Metro Mall, a massive mall close to the airport.

One of our favorite Marriott hotels.

Room Tip: high rooms are quieter when there are functions on in the hotel's ball rooms.

We stayed 3 nights here after a trip up the Panama Canel. It was very nice and clean,The rooms were large and the aircon worked properly. The restaurant and snack bars were excellent. There was al;so some very nice restaurants quite close and quite cheap compared to Australia. It was well located for day walking trips and thelocal tourist bus stopped just up the road. It had good internet and reasonably priced. There was several casinos and clubs in the area but no noise problems from them.

Great Marriott but in the center of Financial district! Booked 2 Executive rooms as we were travelling with our teenage kids! Had great adjoining/ connecting rooms. The executive room type allows you to use the club lounge...great continental breakfast & evening snacks. Unlimited soft drinks but have to pay for alcohol. Free internent use only if you have the excutive type room.
Great airport pick up and drop off arranged by the concierge of the hotel resonably priced (private mini van with driver for our family of 5...$65.00.) Extremely helpful with trips & tours!
Rooms spacious & clean!
Champions restaurant in hotel served average "American Sports Bar" Food!
We ate at the Marriott Cafe twice...that too was ok!
Ate at a Lebanese restaurant right opposite called Beruit..great food.
Not much to do around the hotel...located in financial area.Area is not the best around the hotel except for a few bars to walk at night!
Casino is attached to the hotel.
Great Gym!
No Beauty Salon.
Small sized pool on Mezzanine level.
Great courteous staff!
If on Business great hotel.
Not so if you are travelling with kids..Other Hotels very similiar but better located like Intercontinental, Hard Rock!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room..Less traffic noise!

Very nice hotel, well kept, with very friendly staff, good service, nice bar, the rooms are very good, clean and big.
The price is OK, not the cheapest but not outrageous either.
The good and bad I found are related to location and surroundings.
It´s located in the financial district which is good if you are on business, but the traffic is terrible almost all day long, and empty cabs are scarce.
It´s close (like 5 blocks) to an area with lots of bars and nightclubs, which is good if you are planning to party all night with your buddies, but this also means the area is not the best; ugly as hell, dirty and completely deserted at night.
You can walk to the bars but those 5 blocks are completely empty at night, we walked the distance but if something would have happened there was no one around to get help or whatever.
I've been to this this hotel a couple of times on business and decided to take the family on vacations, not the best decisions; as I mentioned the hotel is very nice, but not really in the nicest neighborhood, so walking around, can be done but is not really nice and I wouldn't do it at night; so you'll have to use a car an get stuck in traffic. There are a lot of bars an strip clubs on the surroundings; there is a bar right across the main entrance of the hotel; at night it gets crowded with lots of girls of dubious reputation, that seems to be in a very good mood all the time, that can bring a lot of question from little kids, and several looks that could kill from your spouse.
So, if on business, very nice hotel, deal with the traffic; if with family and kids there are other hotels very similar but better located.

We stayed for five nights. The most amazing hotel gym I have ever seen. Rooms were dirt cheap, concierges very helpful. You should know that there is quite surcharge ( double) to get a taxi from the hotel, but the upside is they are very nice. We did get some taxis ( yellow). By literally walking to the street and once he tried to charge us way too much but we called him on it and he immediately lowered the price. If you aren't prepared for a possible confrontation, go with the flow and get a cab from the hotel. We also had the concierge arrange for a car to pick us up from the airport which was worth it

Hotel breakfast was fine, but if you don't need a huge buffet, go up the block to Costa Azul. Popular place. Omlets we're great, just be prepared to wait awhile once you order. We arrived on Xmas and nothing was open for dinner of course so we went across the street to Beruit which was perfectly fine.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights at the beginning of our trip to Panama. I have traveled for business extensively for three years staying at Marriott hotels, and this is one of the nicest full-service Marriott hotels I have experienced. We stayed on points, so cannot speak to the price/value - but it is a higher end hotel. What made this hotel better than most is the spacious room and bathroom, that has a great, large stand-up, slate-tiled shower. The service was also fantastic: the front desk staff were exceptional - so accommodating, helpful, bright and friendly. The doorman/valet, although we didn't use them, were also very friendly and willing to help with directions. We used the concierge and both times the girls were very helpful and friendly.

While there isn't a great deal to do in the immediate surroundings of the hotel, we felt safe walking around (as is standard for Panama, there is solid police presence) and it is pretty central: an easy walk down to the waterfront to walk to Casco Viejo, or up a few streets to the grocery store (buy your beer here, it's 0.50 cents per beer versus the $3.50 in the hotel) or a small mall, or to walk to areas where there was more street life (e.g.: Via Argentina). Beirut directly across the street, and Jimmy Padrillos a short walk away are great dinner choices.

As others have said, don't take the taxis from directly outside the hotel - there are plenty of yellow city taxis around the streets...if it's rush hour, though, don't expect to get one right away! And as others have also said: be sure to bargain with the taxi driver for the right price - they definitely try to overcharge tourists. $2-$4 for around town or to Casco Viejo; $6-$8 to get out to Miraflores Locks.

We had access to the executive lounge where the dinner snacks, desserts and breakfast buffet was one of the best I've had at a Marriott. The lounge staff were great, too.

I'm a pretty picky traveler, and don't have any complaints about this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor, corner suites are a little larger and have a "view" (as much as you can at t...

We stayed for just a night following an adventure trip and were delighted with the large, clean room with a beautiful bath. Service was excellent and the executive lounge amenities convenient. Cab rides to Casco Antinguo were reasonable however the hotel location itself while safe wasn't particularly attractive for walking.
