“Beautiful views”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

Go on the weekend if you'd like to hike up the last 1/2 mile as they close access to cars then. We liked hiking up as it felt like an accomplishment and we saw the wildlife on the way and really took in the views as they came up. No facilities so plan ahead ;-)

“Great hike and outstanding views”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Friends and I did a day hike up Cerro Ancon and I was mesmerized at the flora, fauna and stunning views. Cost = 0, Memories = Priceless!

You need to be in decent physical condition for this hike as it is definately NOT for couch potatoes. You can see absolutely everything from here - Panama City skyline. Miraflores locks, Bridge of the Americas, Centenario bridge, Albrook mall and airport, Casco Viejo and much more.

The beautiful Panamanian flag flying proudly atop Ancon is a bold and patriotic statement, and can be seen from most areas of the city and across the canal. This is definately a must do when in Panama City.

“The best view”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

It's a long walk (25 mins from La Estancia, maybe 35 from where a taxi could drop you), but this high forested hill must have the best views of Panama City and the canal by a long way. You may see agoutis and various wild birds on your way up.

this is a good location to get your bearings on the layout of the city; also the only place I spotted and photographed a couple of toucans.

“For My Money, The Best Attraction In Panama”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

To my mind, Ancon Hill is the best attraction in Panama, which, truth to tell, is not saying much. Be forewarned that from the bottom to the top is really a hike of 1.75 miles and you will ascend forty flight of steps. If you are not at least marginally physically fit, this attraction is not for you.

There is a lot of greenery along the way but the variety thereof is disappointing; however, when you get to the top get your camera ready because you will have a fantastic view of the surrounding area including the Panama Canal if you have a telephoto. Frankly, the city should do a little more about making the top more attractive and a snack bar or water fountain would be a huge addition.
