“Tapas and Fútbol”

We Wanted to check out Duran's before friends arrive. Also, the movie of Duran's career is being filmed in Panama City at the moment. If you want to get a better look at the memorabili, the lighting is marginal inside, so arrive before dark. It was very cold inside, so if you want to watch replays of famous Duran fights, being a wrap. We had an order of chicken wings, ten for about ten dollars, a very cold Atlas and room temp red wine (slightly chilled red has become a favorite here). Plenty for a good sized snack. There were several Fútbol games alternating on the TV outside where we sat. It was a nice atmosphere just a block from Via Argentina. Other diners included groups of young business women and young people arriving for dinner. The fish looked really delicious. Service was very good and we will return.

“Pleasant neighborhood sports bar & restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

On our first night in town, after a bad experience at another restaurant where I ended up with no dinner, we stopped there for a bite to eat. I had a shrimp in garlic sauce tapas. you're was very good. We sat on their outside patio. On our last night, we went back for a regular meal, again sitting on the outside patio to watch the World Series. Both our meals were very good: my husband had the lentil soup (wonderful) and the ribeye steak (cooked to order and tasty); I had the langostinos in garlic sauce with a green salad (both very good) and a potato of champions appetizer (good but huge). The red wine was drinkable but not great.

The main problem was in interpreting the menu. Even though they have an English menu, in many cases it tells nothing about the dish. I had thought to order the Land and Sea plate but, even with the help of the waiter, could not figure what was on it and therefore settled for the langostinos.

In general, this is a nice friendly place with an emphasis on boxing memorabilia of Roberto Duran. For those sharing that interest, La Tasca Duran is great; for others, its nice if you're in that area but not worth traveling across town to eat there.

“Our best food and a soccer game in Panama!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

We had such a great evening at La Tasca de Duran on our last night in Panama City. This is a bar & grill restaurant but the food was fantastic. We were the only non Panamanians in the restaurant -- a real local hangout. We had the garlic clams, fish and chips "Pescado a la chorrillera", and another appetizer. Best fish and chips I've ever had! It was so much fun to be immersed in the Panamanian culture to watch a soccer game as well.

Only disappointment was we didn't get to meet Roberto Duran during our visit!

Definitely will visit again if in Panama.

“A must see in Panama City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

We visited this place July 2013 and we had the chance to meet and greet the boxing legend Roberto "Mano de Piedra" Duran. This was a priceless expirience and also had a chance to view an excellent collection of memoribilia that is set up across the walls. The food was great, we had the garlic clams, shrimps and calamari! Pricing is very reasonable, a must see place!

“GREAT PLACE DRINKS AND APPETIZERS”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

This restaurant was located on the same block as my hotel. I enjoyed the atmosphere, live music (Friday and Saturdays), and food. Reservation are accepted so you may want to reserve a table Friday and Saturdays when it gets the most crowded. The best part is that Former Boxing Champion and Restaurant Owner Roberto Duran comes around to greet every patron and also allows photos for your memoir. I will visit here again when I return to Panama City.
