Lovely hostel, run by very friendly and helpful American couple. We had stayed at a nearby hostel, which we found too crowded and noisy, this place was much better. Very fresh and clean, marble staircases, TV Room, kitchen. Great location too.

I stayed at Magnolia Inn twice: first in their hostel, then a week later in one of their rooms on the third floor. The owners and staff created a comfortable and wonderful place to hang out, and although they're in the middle of the action in Casco Viejo, I was able to sleep without hearing any of the noise from the streets or the nearby rooftop bars. They also have a great common room and large kitchen that anyone can use, adorable little balconies to sit on outside the common room and coffee available for guests in the morning. The hostel rooms have really comfortable beds, air conditioning, lockers and individual reading lights. The private rooms on the third floor also had really comfortable beds, were clean and well-equipped with a mini-fridge, ceiling fan, air conditioning and TV. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel/hostel in anyone. Although many people talk about how loud the construction is the in area, I never heard any of it here; the rooms look out on a quiet street and the area is safe and well-lit.

Room Tip: We had room 3b. It was great, and farthest away from Calle 8, which is busy during the day.

My husband and I along with 2 other couples stayed at the Magnolia for two nighs..Aug 16 and 17/13 It is located in Casco Viejo. The area was ideal, easy walking distance to restaurants, the waterfront and full of history.
Our hosts Reggie and Cherie were most accommodating especially because we had to cancel our first night because of airline problems.
The hotel itself was very clean and quiet, and is itself a historic house. There is a kitchen where you can cook your own food, as well as a driver who, for a price will drive you to the canal etc. and even wait for you. We were economizing so did not use this service.
Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

This place was awesome! We moved to this place from a nearby hostel because the rooms were far less crowded. This was by far the nicest and cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. The private rooms are actually upscale hotel rooms, which are one floor above the hostel, and they have their own balcony as well. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the kitchen is immaculate. I loved the neighborhood, too. It was beautiful and safe, and great for wandering and taking photos. I definitely recommend this place!

We stayed in the Luxury Hostel dorm rooms and for $15/ night this was a great steal. The location is nestled in Casco Viejo, perfect for exploring. The owners are incredible friendly and resourceful. The dorm rooms had A/C. The shared bathrooms clean and with hot showers. The community kitchen well stocked. The only note would be that the dorm beds are squeaky, creating lots of noise with any movements while sleeping.

We stayed at Magnolia Inn for a total of three nights. The outside of the building is very unassuming but the common spaces and rooms are definitely a high quality for a hostel. I had a private room on the second floor and it was very comfortable. There was cable tv, a small fridge in the room, and A/C. The bathroom was really nice though there were a few ants that clearly lived there (no big deal and still a totally clean room). The best aspect of Magnolia is its location in Casco Viejo- so many great restaurants, stores, and architecture all within a stone's throw of the hostel! If I ever go back to Panama, I will definitely stay here again. Though one thing to note is that they warn most guests of not passing a certain area after 6pm but it is safe to walk along the water where there's a walking path. They are very conservative with their suggestions which I'd rather have anyways.

We stayed a couple of nights there with my gf and we really enjoyed the place and the atmosphere. Unfortunately no private rooms but this might gonna change in the future.
The bunk bed are equipped with plugs and light which is appreciable.
The owner is really nice and helpful and knows a lot about the city (transports, restaurants, souvenir shops...)
The living room is big and cosy (nice sofa). The kitchen is clean and fully equipped with 2 big tables. The showers and toilets are well maintained. Well, everything is great and clean. Very appreciable
