“Good food; great location to view ships transiting canal”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

After a wonderful and educating two hours in the museum, we went to the restaurant and scored a great table on rail of the balcony overlooking the locks. Had the food been lousy, it would have been well worth the price. But the food was really very good. It was buffet style but some menu choices. We chose the buffet. A nice salad bar with hearts of palm, several green salads and the usual toppings. A large assortment of cheeses, fruits, and cold meats on an antipasto bar. Good shrimp/seafood soup. Huge assortments of chafing dish style fish and meats. Really good au gratin potatoes and another hot dish of artichoke hearts in a creamy sauce. Huge selection of desserts from cheesecakes to pies and puddings.

Service was excellent. Crowd was tourists visiting the visitor center -- DUH, nice group of happy people oohing and ahhing as huge ships passed just meters in front of us.

This could be an attraction review also. Do not miss these exhibits. It is a testimonial to a fantastic feat. The food is an additional pleasure.

“Excellent view of the Canal”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We had a late lunch there on the terrace overlooking the canal. Just perfect! It is so nice to be able to sit and enjoy a good meal while watching large freighters go by in the canal.
We arrived there on a Monday around 2, did not have any reservations and waited approximately 10-15 minutes for a table on the balcony, directly on the edge. We were told the buffet was the only option and that was perfectly fine. There were a lot of choices, cheese, charcuterie, salads, salmon lasagna, meat dishes and deserts. The price $35 per person. I think the best part of the restaurant is - location, location, location!

“Solid Good”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

You might anticipate a second rate restaurant since thsi is a location for museum and ships and not necessarily dining, but you will likely be surprised as we were inthat the food was of good quality and the service was above average, and watching the canal does not get old for me so that was a good side benefit

“Million-dollar view; Mediocre food”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Two of these stars are for the view. It's well worth it to come here, especially at sunset as we did, but the food on the buffet is not that great especially for the steep price. Drinks were also just OK and overpriced. Service was attentive but not particularly warm. Just the same, well worth the trip.
