Walked to Martin Fierro restaurant from Crowne Plaza. Pretty place. Menu in Spanish but there are English translations. Argentinian themed menu so lots of beef specialties. Nice salsas with warm rolls. Tasted the “hot” sauce”; I wouldn’t do that again. Small salad bar. Started with grilled octopus, nicely done and presented. Hubby had a good sized portion and nicely flavored filet (beef) with a peppercorn sauce. I had shrimp (really prawns) which were very good once I got them out of their shell. Wines by the glass around 5 or 6$. Tap water is safe to drink! Reasonably priced. Good service and good food. If you’re in the area try it.

The steaks here are absolutely fantastic! It is not an uppity place where rich folks look down their noses at everybody. Nor is it a fancy-dancy place where you have to wear a coat and a tie or a dress to "fit in". Rather, it is a fairly small and simple place that has fantastic service and steaks for a reasonable price. We went there several times when we lived there and we were always pleased. A couple of quick stories: One time the steak was so good that I felt obligated to give the COOK a couple of bucks for a tip! Another time, we noticed our "wine waiter" never let the glass get below half full, so we turned it into a game. And if we visited when the street was busy, the valet stopped traffic for us so we could pull out safely.

Once you've had a meal at an authentic argentinian parilla in Buenos Aires or elsewhere in Argentina for example Zucardi's vine yard in Mendoza, your standards are becoming quite high. The ambiance of this restaurant was average. No sign of a wood fire nor the scent of it. My wife and i both had steaks. I took the better quality of filet mignon and could'nt tell the difference between the one served to my wife . I didn't notice that the side dishes were all a la carte. Therefore, our steaks were served without any vegetables to accompany it. On the positive side we can say that the service was fine.

The steaks we ate were good, as we ordered them (medium/rare and medium), pricing was acceptable. Atmosphere was average. No surprises, neither pleasant or unpleasant.

Bring your appetite when you visit Fierro's! Order the filet with one of the several sauces (not the filet mignon, although it's very good, too). Huge quantity of some of the best beef you've ever tasted and the sauces compliment the great steak. Very good salad bar.
