Owner description: Panama Marine Adventures is the leader tour operator in Panama Canal Tours aboard the MV Pacific Queen. We offer two options to experience the Panama Canal and its history up close. The Partial Transit tour has a duration of 4 to 5 hours. It goes through the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks, underneath the Bridge of the Americas and Centennial Bridge and Gaillard Cut. The Full Transit tour has a duration of 8 to 9 hours. You will transit through the three set of locks: Miraflores, Pedro Miguel and Gatun Locks, commencing in Pacific Ocean and ending in the Atlantic Ocean. In both options you will observe some of the works that are being held for the Canal's expansion.

“A Full Transit of the Panama Canal is a Must”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

Let me get the negatives of this trip out of the way first:
A full transit is quite expensive.
They only take place once a once and the boat is packed.
The food is awful and most of the staff unfriendly.
The bus back from Colon is old and uncomfortable
Having said that, I could not image visiting Panama and not taking this trip. Starting at the end of the Amador Causeway and traveling through the locks, the Gallard Cut, Lake Gatun, and ending in Colon is a magical experience. There is no other way to fully understand the achievement of constructing the Panama Canal.
Gus, the narrator, is an excellent, well-informed guide. But to get the most out of the trip you should do some preparation. Visit the Miraflores Locks Visitor Center to get a ground-level view of the locks and visit their museum. Read David McCullough's The Path Between the Seas to understand how the canal was built.

“Panama Canal Tour, too expensive ”
Reviewed January 19, 2014 via mobile

You of course have to see the canal when you visit Panama. But the day we booked changed to a full day in staid of a half day tour. The full day tour makes a full transit which could be interesting, but it just takes too long: 13 hours... The trip costs $180 ($135 for a half day/transit). I think this is just too expensive.
During the trip breakfast, lunch a snack and sodas are included. The food doesn't match with the price... And when I asked for a second piece of chicken I could have it...
The boat arrived an hour too late at the Colon harbor. Probably not PMT's fault, but this meant we got back in Panama City an hour later as well. At that time you're really hungry...
The boat is very full as well, your trapped together with 300 tourists.
The trip itself is interesting and the guide is very well informed.
I guess the half day tour is more than enough.

“The guide made it very good”
Reviewed January 9, 2014 via mobile

First of all, the Panama canal tour is a must, a great experience and this company did a good job. The best thing, guide Gus who has an enormous knowledge which he leveraged both in English and Spanish in a very relaxed way. Food was below average, both breakfast and lunch, free sodas, coffee and water, well, the trip costs $ 135 pp so free? The pacific queen is a clean ship, hosts abot 300 people, we were only with 150, so everybody had very nice views.

I do recommend it, as this is a once in a lifetime tour. Bring something to read though as 4-5 hours is long... The locks are the highlights, the rest is just cruising through the canal.

“The Panama Canal up close”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

My Wife and I had been waiting quite awhile to see the Panama Canal. We finally found the time and it was well worth the trip. We did a 1/2 transit north bound which was more than sufficient to give us the "feel" for the canal. The Pacific Queen was large enough to make you comfortable. It provided the opportunity to be out on the deck or in the A/C space. The views of the locks, the freighters, the panorama of the city and the jungle along the edge of the canal were wonderful. The tour guide, Gus, did a great job providing the history of the building of the canal. He was also very knowledge able about the new addition to the canal.

“Great option for partial transfer”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

This organization provided us with an easy, well-run partial transfer of the canal. The boat was clean and well air conditioned inside, had an overhead cover to protect from elements on upper deck. Good food, unlimited soda/water, good guide. Everything was on time.
