“Sendero Panama's expert, articulate and personable Certified Interpretive Guides are perfect for savvy travelers.”

Micaela's and Christian's US connections enhanced conversations and helped relieve our concerns about being stereotypically arrogant Americans while asking possibly sensitive questions. Having a "zoner" guide also added a lot of social and historical insight. Sendero Panama always focused on what interested us and really knew the answers. If they didn't know, they didn't make up an answer. They had all of the details of our several tours under total control. Our tours were Ancient & Modern, Barro Colorado, El Valle de Anton, RR to Colon and an Embera village, and the Canal Zone & museum.

“Birdwatching Panama with Sendero Panama was Fantastic”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

My son and I went on a 10 day birding tour of Panama all organized by Sendero Panama. This is an excellent company who provided us with private guides of the highest caliber. We saw almost 400 species in the 10 days including 200 lifers. Carlos Fonseca was our wonderful guide in the Chiriqui. We saw of course the highland specialties such as Resplendet Quetzal and Long-tailed Silky Flycatcher. But we also saw Silvery-Fronted Tapaculo, Black Guan and the elusive Wrenthrush. Carlos was not only an expert at finding the birds but he also was constantly concerned for our comfort and safety.

I would also like to recommend the beautiful new hotel in Cerro Punta, Casa Grande Bambito. Nice setting across from the river, large and stylish rooms, excellent restaurant and very near Volcan Baru.

In the canal area and eastern Panama, we were lucky to have as our private guide, Vinicio "Benny" Wilson. Benny is a master bird guide and a humorous companion. With Benny's help, we saw rarities such as Spectacled Parrotlet, Red-billed Schythebill, Aplomado Falcon and Ocellated Antbird. Benny worked tirelessly to help us see as many species as possible.

The organizer of our trip, Micaela Schmidt of Sendero Panama, was amazingly helpful. She made sure we visited all the places we wished, checked our bird lists with the guides and put us in safe, friendly and well located lodging. Her partner, Christian, personally drove us through the many checkpoints of the Darien and made our trip a success.

I can't say enough about Sendero Panama. If you are a birdwatcher heading to Panama, this is a company you can rely on.

Sincerely,
Michael Schaefer

“Out of the pages of Nat Geo”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

We visited the Embera with Sendero Panama tours.
The village is located in one of the rivers that conect to the Pma Canal.
First, it is a long ride, we had been told by the guide about a hr to the river and then 45 minutes up the river, it took that long. But it was worted.
The Embera are friendly, handsome and the village in the middle of the rainforest.
We eat fish and some type of banana and more fruit.
Our guide knew everyone in the village and could guive us a inside to daily life in the comunitty.
If you are in Panama, make sure you visit this place.

“Fantastic... Best tours ever”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

After reading the reviews here my husband and I decided to try a day tour with this company. We did their Wildside of Panama Canal tour in Gatun Lake. The amount of information and the exceptional service provided by them ended in our family booking two more toursñ Soberania National park and a day at teh Embera Village.
They made our vacations memorable, and our kids love our guide.
If your vacattions bring you to Panama, I recommend you use Sendero Panama.
We are taking the day off today, and tomorrow heading back home.
We are thinking in coming back and do the country side, but there are so many other places in the world to travel.

“Sendero Panama tours”
Reviewed September 28, 2011

While the Panama Canal and Gatun lake are the product of man labor, the area can't be more natural. We explore the lake as part of a program with Sendero Panama tours and saw a ton of wildlife. Several groups of Howler monkeys, also Capuchin and Tamarin monkeys, two species of Sloth, many birds and giant crocodiles.
I read about no seen wildlife in a previews post and couldn't help to remember the words of our naturalist guide: It is nature and runs wild, sometimes you see a lot, other days not as much. If you want to see all the animals the 100% of the time, go to the Zoo, but it wont be the same fulfilling experience.
I guess sometime that helps to make the experience a good experience, is to be in the hands of a knowledgeable naturalist who can find the animals for you.
It was one of our favorite days in the program we did with Sendero Panama tours.
