“Good food, needs a refurbishment”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

We went to this family restaurant and found the food good and the price very moderate for its quality. It does need a bit of sprucing as it looks tired in need of refurbishment. We had the combo which included teppanyaki of fish, seafood, filet and chicken. All were done perfectly and were tasty. The rice as quite good also. Sundays are family day so lots of kids. Maitre d' is quite helpful and eager to please. All in all, a good restaurant for its price.

“Poor Atmosphere”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

Took some out of town guests to the Ginza for some Japanese Food. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very cold. The waitresses never smiled or engaged us. Our cook could barely greet us. No personality. I am from Seattle and have had the Benihana restaurant experience which is just the opposite, where the servers and cooks make an effort to engage the customers and make the meal an unforgettable experience. And for the price, the food was just not that great.

“Poor Cleanliness - Overworked cooks”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

I went on a Sunday to the Ginza restaurant. There were only 2 cooks working that night and they looked harried and over-worked. The tables were full of families with noisy kids and the restaurant does not sit single diners with families - therefore a 30 minute wait to start. The service at the bar was extremely poor (perhaps they had a shortage of waiters as well)....the teppan surfaces were not cleaned by the cooks when they were finished - so all of us diners sat in front of greasy leftover food that was sticking to the grill - certainly not something that whets one's appetite.
When the show finally started, it was anti-climatic - since there were no kids sitting with us, the cooks did not put on a show and merely tried to finish their job as quickly as they could. My shrimp was put under a cover and tasted rubbery and over-cooked and the beef had a stale, burnt taste to it. Other diners at our table were not impressed. Even Benihanna is about 10 times better than this......I would say, don't waste your money on this restaurant - perhaps the familes who ate there do not know what good Japanese food is about - and it was mainly families dining out - or perhaps it was just the day of the week. In either case, there are several other better choices to eat in Panama city.

“Would have liked to have scored it three and a half”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

It's exactly what it says it is, a Teppanyaki restaurant. It would only get a couple of stars if it was actually the Ginza in Tokyo, but it's not, it's in Panamá and one has to make allowances. It's not cheap, but you're in part paying for the basic food quality, which was good. Japanese chefs, were fine. Service OK. There are some oddities like the Panamanian waitresses dressed in dodgy Kimonos. The garlic bread, mayo, vinaigrette and "pink" sauce which accompany the teppanyaki, But as I said this is Panamá!

“Good food and service”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Ginza burned a few years ago and had reopened. It has a very nice atmosphere. It is located at the corner of two one-way streets and is hard to get to IF you do not know the area. Cost is above average. Food cooked to your request.
