“Has moved to the top for us in Panama City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

The first time we went to Maito's we were disappointed with the food we had, we have been a few times since and I must say, one bad experience can easily been forgotten.
We yet have to try the dinner menu as we tend to go for a long leasurely lunch.... make sure you book in advance, lunch is packed.
Again, the wines and champagne are very reasonably priced.... and the selection is quite good.
The waiters are very attentive, but only there when you need them.
The entrees are fresh and delicious..... I loved the Spicy Tuna....
Try the baby backribs. They are cooked to perfection, the meat melting off the bones when you touch it!
The location is easy to find, and a nice ambiance awaits.
Quality/price very good.
This has moved into first place for us in Panama City, followed by 1985!

“Stunning Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

Modern & delicious twist taken on some Central American favorites. The Spicy Tuna stater was out of this World followed up by Calamari (fresh as any I've ever had) filled with black risotto! POW! Amazing. Topped it off with a bottle of wine (ok selection) and decent post-dinner digestifs... probably quite expensive for Panama City but Vs US prices, good value. Love this place (indoor and outdoor seating is all decent and spacious).

“Ordinary”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

After eating here, I really do not understand all the buzz regarding this place.
Location is ok, the setup and decor are ok, the service was also ok.
The most important thing, the food, was "normal", not bad but far from excellent.
For starter we had the "Cochinita Pibil" and the Hash Fried Ceviche, both just ok but completely forgettable.
Main course was Lamb, which we asked to be pink, was almost well done, very greasy and with lots of flay or "internal" skin. Maybe one of the worst lambs I have ever tried.
The dessert, Panamisu, the chef interpretation of Tiramisu, was very good.
Should I have had a little lower expectations I would have enjoyed the experience.
This restaurant for me is a closed chapter, do not plan to come back.

“Great food, simple bit nice setting”

Had a great personal lunch here and all 4 especially the two foodies all enjoyed it...

Try the spearmint or chai/black tea which are super refreshing cold drinks on a hot tropics day
