Went for half day fishing on the canal - caught over 30 peacock bass.
Guide Avilardo (sorry for spelling) was friendly, helpful, knowledgable and made a real special day for us with perfect service that ended with us eating the fish we caught for dinner.

Took a trip last weekend and had a great time. Aberlardo picked us up downtown promptly at 6:30 and kept on schedule the entire trip. Our captain, Francisco, was very proactive about finding the right spot on the lake and we moved many times before zeroing in on a hot spot. Caught about 35 fish between two people and had stretches were we couldn't keep the bait in the water for more than a minute or two. They provided sandwiches, chips and enough beers to keep us hydrated the entire time.

Highly recommend this trip for anyone, regardless of if you're an avid angler.

We love everything about fishing in the panama canal. They picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off. Our guide was Abelardo Lopez, he is a walking history book on Panama. He was so helpful and interesting. We went to the locks after we had lunch and they cooked our catch for the day. Just being in the canal with all the huge tankers and cruse ships was VERY cool. We were the only small boat around most of the time. This was our favorite tour that we did in Panama worth every cent. If you don't sign up you will be missing a great opportunity even if you don't fish.

We were picked up at our hotel on time and our guide spoke very good English. He was a wealth about Panama in general, not just the canal. We caught lots of fish and saw the huge canal ships.

My husband, my ten-year old son and I took a full-day tour, guided by Abelardo and Helio. It was immediately clear how knowledgable they both were about the lake. After only about 15-20 minutes we caught our first fish and when a spot would go quiet, we would leave and they knew the next spot to go.
They were very patient and helpful. I must have gotten my line hung up on shore or on tree roots 15 different times and they would bait another rod and hand it to me while they worked on the other line. They really made our day great.
The day we were out was really hot, and even with some cloud cover the rays were intense, so when you go, make sure you bring sunscreen and reapply!
