My mom, two kids (8 and 3), and I had a blast touring El Valle with our guide, Jeff! The highlights of our tour were a walk through the forest and over Indiana Jones-like rope/wood plank suspension bridges, shopping at the beautiful, NO-pressure-to-buy outdoor farmers' and artisans' market, and exploring El Valle's little zoo, which, although we did feel a little sorry for many of the animals cooped up in pretty small cages, was a great hands-on experience for the kids as they got to hand-feed monkeys, birds, raccoons, and other rain forest critters. Also, the frog exhibit at the zoo, featuring the highly endangered Panamanian Golden Frog, was really cool--and air conditioned! The BEST part of the tour, though, was our tour guide extraordinaire, Jeff! He was super professional, really friendly, knowledgable about all things Panamanian, and really seemed to love what he was doing, which made our experience especially fun. Plus, he was AWESOME with our kids, which is definitely wonderful and not true of all tour guides! The only part of the trip that wasn't all that exciting for us was the little stop to see some ancient petroglyphs, but maybe those are really fabulous for some tourists! Just not our crowd.:). Overall, this day trip is a highlight of our adventure living in Panama so far. El Valle is gorgeous and Jeff will take great care of you! Enjoy!!
