Rooms were nice size, clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. We found the staff to be very professional, helpful and friendly calling us by name after only a couple nights. We booked a couple tours through the concierge, ate in the restaurant, used the business center and asked for guidance and requested extras from housekeeping. Alcibiades Gonzalez was especially helpful assisting our family with our reservations and plans. The property is near businesses, shopping and site seeing.

This is a very good hotel as it is splendidly situated and has wonderful accomodations and service. We loved it! We had lunch at their restaurant and there I would recommend a more extensive menu. Since this is a French chain, there should be some French items on the menu, there was nothing in there, and what was there was very plain. There is room for improvement in the restaurant of his hotel. The rest is fine and can recommend.

There is remarkedly little to say about the LeMeridien Panama- pro or con. While the rooms were fine (clean, in good shape, reasonably comfortable) there was a spartenness to the hotel that resulted in no real character to the rooms or the hotel. Staff was satisfactory as was the food, but no memories will be created here. This is pretty much your standard hotel- check in, have your meeting or tour, check out. The hotel is more or less ocean front (across a green area and a main boulevard) and relatively near to the business center so the location is good; however the hotel occupies the lower floors of a high rise building with the top floor of the hotel being the 6th floor of the building- so views are limited if you do not have a ocean view room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the ocean.

I have stayed here twice recently and love the property. It is in a great location overlooking the water and near some of the best restaurants in town. Unfortunately, the staff doesn't match the property...and I am a 100+ nights per year Starwood guest, so I am having issues, I don't want to think about how bad it is for non-status guests.

The concierge in particular was a mess and Candi at that desk was HORRIBLE and ruined part of our trip. She was supposed to confirm us for a Gamboa jungle tour and didn't do it. We didn't find out until it was too late to find a tour at all. She said she would get back to us by 6:00pm that day to confirm and didn't do that. In fact, she never called us. We called down around 6:30pm to confirm details and she wasn't there. It wasn't until 7:40pm that we got a text message (not even a call) saying the tour was NOT booked and there were no alternatives looked into or reserved.

Also, there was supposed to be a sleeper bed in our suite, but there wasn't one and the hotel was out of roll away beds. As a result, one of us had to literally sleep on the floor.

Great way to treat Platinum members.

The hotel is located opposite a public parking lot on the water front.
The view is quite lovely, but the hotel itself is a bit awkward. They have the lower 6 floors of an apartment building, and the pool area is looked down on by the apartments.
A very small pool, and kinda dirty.
The rooms are nice. Very Meridien like. Modern and open.
A place to stay, if you want to go out on Calle Uraguay (a busy clubbing area), and don't want to stay by the pool.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view.

I stayed at the Le Meridien in Panama City for 4 nights around Christmas. The hotel is a very beautiful and modern property. A little smaller than I was expecting, but I've never stayed at a Le Meridien property before so maybe that's how they all are. It's a very convenient location for exploring the city and some of the best restaurants in town are just down the street (La Posta and Market). We had an ocean facing room which was really nice for the fireworks for Christmas, although the traffic was a bit noisy because of all the nearby clubs. The room was spacious and the bathroom was large and easy to share with two other people (we were 3 in total).

A few cons:
The hotel recommends using the hotel taxis which are very expensive compared to regular taxi prices. We would just walk a few feet out to the corner and hail our own taxi.

Wifi was horrible, especially at what I would assume was peak time of use? It would work better at certain times of the day.

We had really horrible dining experiences at breakfast. Ate there twice, one at the dismal $13 buffet and once ordered the a la carte special Jean George dishes which was a total disaster.

We stayed at the Sheraton convention center on our last night in Panama and I prefer the Le Meridien over the Sheraton if trying to choose a starwood property. The Sheraton is much bigger, with more people around, more exciting pool and much better restaurants (a couple of options) and better wifi. The room was just okay and bathroom was very small. The size of the room/bathroom and location of the Le Meridien win in my book.
