-- it's got an awkward location, a puzzling design, and slow, bumbling service in the restaurant. The room was big, not as clean as I would have expected, but comfortable. The highlight was José, the bellman, who spoke great English and was extremely helpful. My stay was ok but I would go somewhere else next time.

The Toscana Inn Hotel is clean and with amenities that made our 9-day stay in Panama City very pleasant. Our room was cleaned each day, but we were never disturbed by the cleaning staff. There was a small refrigerator in our room that was very convenient for snacks and drinks. The staff was outstanding. We asked to be picked up upon arrival (around 10PM) and our driver was waiting with a clear sign. This was arranged by the hotel and was the going rate for the airport transport. The breakfast buffet presented many choices and while not "haute cuisine" was plentiful and certainly good. Coffee was excellent and available 24 hours. Our experience with taxis was good; as often suggested, we walked away from the hotel and since the street was well traveled, we always had our choice of taxis within a minute...even when we refused overpriced drivers. The staff went out of their way, without being pushy to help out. We would definitely return to the Toscana Inn!

Room Tip: We asked for a non-smoking, but I believe that all rooms must be non-smoking by law.

Good service - good value. Decent location but not very interesting area (prefer Casco Antiguo). Breakfast so-so. Very helpful staff. For some reason very difficult to find for taxi driver but not sure what to do about it as this was a problem even with the exact address provided.

My wife and I have just returned from a magnificent 2 week stay in Panama City and are so pleased we stayed at the Toscana Inn.

Firstly, Luis at the front desk did a great job arranging in advance for a driver to pick us up at the airport at 10:05pm and confirmed the arrangement via email before we departed for Panama. Our friendly and courteous driver, Francisco, was there waiting for us holding a Name Card bearing our name after we cleared customs at Tocumen Airport, and he was a welcome sight as it was our first trip to Panama. Francisco greeted us warmly and drove expertly well through the late evening city traffic to get us quickly over to our hotel. On our arrival around 11pm we were made to feel so special by Ricardo who took in our luggage and by Luis on the front desk whom we of course were so happy to thank for arranging the airport pick up.

The staff were really so welcoming and friendly that we felt as if we were being welcomed into a family home. While we checked in our driver Francisco offered us a complimentary cup of tea or coffee. To be made to feel so welcome on our arrival got our stay in Panama off to a wonderful start as we had booked the Toscana Inn for the entire 13 days of our stay. It got even better when Luis kindly reserved a wonderful top floor room available just down from a roof top terrace which was a great place to sit out and relax at the end of the day and observe the city skyline while surrounded by pots of colorful purple bougainvillea and other beautiful plants.

Our tiled floor room was tastefully decorated with a really comfortable huge California king size bed while the 6th floor location allowed nice views over the city skyline. Other hotel staff each contributed to making our stay in Panama City so enjoyable, including Rodrigo at the front desk. We sincerely thank Rogelio for being such a wonderfully gracious host throughout our stay and being a superb hotel manager.

A really nice hot complimentary breakfast consisting of local Panamanian dishes, locally grown fruits and freshly brewed Panamanian coffee was served each morning by friendly staff. We look forward to staying again at the Toscana Inn on future visits to Panama City. It is in a great location in the center of El Cangrejo, a walkable, safe and vibrant neighborhood located close to shops and an array of fantastic restaurants. We enjoyed dining at Manolo's for the fine, fresh quality of Panamanian dishes such as Sancocho Panameno (homemade chicken soup with yucca root, Guabina Frita (freshly caught same day fish also the Corvina is excellent) and Pollo Criollo con Ajillo Sauce (Creole Chicken with Garlic Sauce), walking distance from the hotel as well as the Peruvian restaurant nearby called, Machu Picchu which serves exquisite and affordable Peruvian meals - Filet Mignon was excellent.

If you want to get a good overview of the vibrant city of Panama and its surroundings like must-see visits to Casco Viejo, Panama Canal, Ancon Hill, Amador Causeway, wonderful shopping malls and more, we recommend you go on the Hop on Hop Off Panama Tour Bus which is $29 per adult for a 24 hour ticket.

We highly recommend this Panamanian gem of a hotel to base yourself in Panama City. You will experience Panamanian hospitality at its finest, warmth, pride and care throughout your stay with the staff at Toscana Inn. If it was possible to give 6 stars to the Toscana Inn for our stay we would!
