“Great staff, not so great room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

It's an ok hotel, walking distance from a lot of restaurant, bars and the best casino in Panama. Room is ok, but if there's something i hate the most is not having anywhere to plug my computer and my cellphone close to my bed. It's ok for 1 or 2 days, but not more than that. Also, is overpriced compared with the Hilton Garden Inn or the Tryp Panama that are much better structured and even closer to the same bars / restaurants / casino.

Our flight got in at 1:30 am on our first trip to Panama. Expect to pay 28 dollars for a cab ride to the hotel. When we checked in at the desk (3 am), we were warmly greeted and asked if they could get us juice or soda. I responded what no cerveza?... and sure enough 2 beers with ice followed. Great stay, great people, wi fi, clean and safe, wonderful coffee always available.
Front desk called Ricardo Fisher for us and we booked an afternoon trip to the canal, old city etc...wonderful tour guide. Rey supermarket is within walking distance downtown and fridge in the room. Btw Balboa #1 beer in Panama. All in all wonderful experience.
Around the corner and up the street a little is a quiet little place called Chris named after the owner (Tito) wife who is also the chef. Ask for Jose Luis, who speaks english very well and has a great attitude. Pizza which is cooked on an outside brick oven and menu selections are great.
Our Trip was an eye opening experience. There were instances that we felt we were taken advantage of as Gringos, for example while shopping at Studio F downtown, I realized after the fact that the sales clerk took my Balboas (Panamanian dollars which look like our quarters) and basically overcharged me. Small price to pay for a valuable lesson and the dollar is their currency which is very convenient.. Also, I sincerely doubt that the cost of my boyfriends shave should have been $14 in a country where police officers make 800.00 a month and waiters work 80 hours a week to make 150.00 however the barber did a great job.

This is a clean, friendly, well located hotel with an excellent breakfast and knowledgeable staff! Wifi working in the room as I write this! Also two computers and printer available in reception area. A pleasant surprise, close to restaurants, shopping, supermarket... The staff is very helpful. The hot breakfast is varied day to day! Air conditioning, large rooms, hot showers, little touches as well. What else could we want?

The location of the hotel is awesome - next to a big supermarket and restaurants, only 5 min drive from the malls. The hotel restaurant and breakfast is great! The Staff of the hotel is extremely nice and helpful. The room is very big, very clean and has constant WiFi. Overall we had a great stay!

This was the perfect place for our stay. The hotel is very niceand our room was perfect, very clean. The staff was wonderful. They could not do enough to make our stay the best that it could be from recommending wonderful restaurants to finding our outstanding tour guide. The hotel is right in the center of shopping the casino and more. I very much recommend that you stay here and ask for Eddie Biscomb as a tour guide. He took us to many great sights, explained everything like a professional tour guide. He was also extremely reasonable. You can also email him at Bigboss_64@live.com.

I was a little skeptical that this hotel could be as nice as numerous reviewers stated. But we were not disappointed. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and everything from the rooms to the the lobby were very clean. And given the noise level of Panama City, our room was quiet.
Room service was reasonably priced and offered good service.
By far the best thing I got from my stay there was a referral from Gretta at the reservations desk for a local guide & driver named Ricardo Fisher. He was outstanding! He drove us everywhere we wanted to go over the course of three days. Ricardo is charming, polite, speaks excellent English, and is very knowledgable about local history and knows all the good restaurants. In short, he made our trip to Panama City fantastic. As a side note: I strongly advise you NOT to drive in Panama City unless you are familiar with its driving conditions. I'm from L.A., have traveled extensively all over the world and have never seen such congestion and chaos on the streets of such a large city.

This is not one of those mega hotels with a pool and large lobby. Toscanna is small, charming and very centrally located. The staff is friendly and helpful and attempt to help in any way. Breakfasts are reasonable, wi-fi is free, rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. Rooms on the higher floors are quieter. One of the best services offered is access to a great local tour guide. Ask at the front desk for Ricardo's contact information.
