it is so good to find the innkeeper that has the patience & knowledge to assist the traveler .. more personal than a tourist bureau
the inn is located near the maritime college & the amador causeway
we like to have quiet streets for walking, convenient location for access to transportation & tourist attractions
this is breakfast included, common areas, internet access, cable tv
the guests mingle well in the atmosphere
we recommend it to our best friends

Innkeeper Franz Wald and staff run a nice bed and breakfast in an expanded-renovated home in lush, cponveniently-located residential area of Panama City, near everytiing.

We stayed here our last night in Panama. It is a great value. Breakfast was simple and tasty. Franz, the owner, has a pet monkey named Ramano. It was the only monkey we saw in Panama so we were really glad to see her. I would recommend staying here.

We loved staying in the canal zone away from overly congested and crazy panama city. Its a short distance to everywhere including the beautiful Causeway, which shouldn't be missed. For kids, the Smithsonian Museum (on the causeway) is a wonderful treat with a "petting zoo" with starfish and other marine life. The best place to buy ethnic gifts is the shop BEHIND the YMCA and Gamboa and the amazing pipelineroad.org is not to be missed and relatively close. The Inn, while not luxurious, is spacious and very comfortable with friendly artsy-ish decor, The beds are very comfortable--not too hard or soft. We were concerned about being too close to the bridge & its traffic but we didn't hear it at all with the AC on. The pool is perfect for a kid with a shallow side and a godsend to the adults in the heat. Franz is a treasure and his staff very helpful and keep the place spotless. The breakfast is basic but good--ask for fruit, they have it but for some reason don't offer it. My son is insisting that French toast be added to the menu--if you get it thank my 4yo! We ended up staying here for almost a WEEK (when we thought we would leave after a day). Great place--don't know why it wasn't reviewed in Moon Guides (which has been very right on and helpful). For cheap and close by dinner try Nikos greek diner.

Canal Inn is a wonderful and peaceful place, the person who works there are really gentile, and make you feel you a special one. You don't feel to be in a hotel, but in a good family house.
I hope to be able to back there as soon as possible!
