This is always on our list for taking visitors. We love the beef and the salad bar is good. It was the very first place we ever went in the city.

Very good cuts. They bring them around on a cart prior to cooking. Wine selection good. Caesar salad excellent.

Had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Gaucho's on our last night in Panama City. Having travelled to both Argentina and Uruguay, this place does justice to their food. The freshly baked bread was excellent. The meat was cooked exactly as requested, the service was efficient and the price was reasonable. Altogether, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Argentinian/Uruguayan style steaks.

Gauchos was on Calle Uruguay before this street became a popular nightspot strip. Located in a former residence in the Bella Vista style of chalet, the specialty is USDA Prime beef in Argentine cuts. The decor is simple yet elegant, in a sort of Pampas rustic, with white walls, terra cotta flooring and critter hides on the walls. Central to the operation is a full-spec Argentine grill behind glass along one wall, where white-aproned "parrilleros" grill the3 goodies. Chorizo, morcilla, bife de chorizo, entraña, and more sizzle away as large round "pan campesino", or country bread, warms along the edges. Waiters are old-fashioned, patient and helpful. The wine list is adequate, starring Argentine and Spanish wines, beef is always done spot-on, and the entire experience is just too comforting for words. Perhaps most importantly, this is a place where quality has not hiccuped once since they opened X years ago. Still the go-to steak place in Panama.

This restaurant has the very best steaks - Uruguayan style - in town. The service is little slow and parking could be an issue.
