Los Ranchos is still after many, many years the best steak house to eat traditional old fashioned nicaraguan meat. If you are coming from another country and have never been to Nicaragua a churrasco at Los Ranchos is one of the things you need to eat while you´re here.
The service has always been great, they have exceptional quality control on their meats, the starter salad they have is probably the best in the country, nothing fancy its just a regular salad with a home made vinagrette but for my taste is the best around. The refried beans with fried cheese although a heart attack waiting to happen are probably the best vean - cheese experience you will have while in Nicaragua and anywhere else for that matter.
Now for the steaks I must clarify if you are looking for argentinian or US style cuts this is not the place for you. Los Ranchos takes pride in their churrasco which is a local thin cut sirloin marinated in chimichurri sauce for a long time before cooking. It will melt in your mouth and the quality of the meat is always superb. If you are looking for bife de chorizo poterhouse steaks this is not the place for you.
For a traditional nicaraguan steak dinner you cannot go anywhere else. The beer is always frosty cold, and if you want to enjoy some nicaraguan flor de caña rum the prices are very decent. The desserts are also nicaraguan themed, if you are visiting from out of town always ask what they have as it varies, but you can always count on the Tres Leches, Turron de Chocolate, and buñuelos. If you got a big table get all of them and share!.
