Wow, I never knew there is so much to the city! The guide books and websites and forums make you want to get a ride straight out of town...dont! Check out Mana-Ahuac Hoy and let them show you what makes Managua so cool.
Safety was our biggest concern and Marcela made us feel completely at home and secure in the areas we went to. She was very knowledgeable of the city and Nicaragua itself...we even tried to get her to guide us to the north of the country, she was that good!
We checked out four other Managua tour packages and decided to go with Mana-Ahuac Hoy because they hit the top spots as well as some hidden areas that don't get many visitors but are just as enlightening. For example all the tour companies visit the Cathedral and Tiscapa Lagoon, but Mana-Ahuac Hoy also took us to a relatively unknown museum featuring archaeological pieces from the construction of a project neighborhood by the lake (sorry, don't remember what it was called). They also took us to see how some of the locals live and we learned how to make tortillas. Of course the main museum and cathedral and Tiscapa were also on the menu.
They offer both half and full-day tours of the city and of the revolution. Also they are the only tour operator we found that offers tours to upcoming festivals (the pictures make it look fascinating and will be on our to-do list next trip)!
They also offer airport pickup and dropoff for a very good price. If you have some time to kill in the city, this is a great way to do it. Five stars!
