We travel to Managua about once a month, and have found this to be by far our best... and friendliest... value for the money. While certainly not in a class with, for example, the Crown Plaza, at $30 for 2 people it offers air conditioning, cable television, and a lovely pool. The hotel, though not new, is well-maintained by a local family, and usually staffed by at least 1 English speaker. There are also less expensive rooms... with fans... for budget-constrained travelers, so you will probably encounter at least one charitable contingent staying there. For Managua, the barrio...Altagracia... is quite safe, though traveling by taxi is always a good idea...our favorite taxista, Alfredo, at 8659-0143, will be happy to help you at a fair price...just mention Don Roberto from Isla de Ometepe. By the way, although they offer decent American coffee, with cold milk by request, the cuisine leaves a lot to be desired...as does most of the restaurant food in Managua.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the pool.

The hotel is about 20 minutes away from the airport so it's centralized. They provided us with shuttle service for $20. The staff is friendly and the place is always kept clean. We only paid $35 for a double room with AC, cable and free wi-fi and they gave us free breakfast on top of that. The only thing I didn't like was that they only serve breakfast and lunch so we had to call pizza hut for delivery for our dinner. The food at the hotel was great though. This hotel is good for people who want to get sense of what the Nicaraguan culture is like because it doesn't just cater to tourists like me, it also caters to the local community which is great because I got to meet and see the real Nicaraguan people there having fun. Hands down this hotel is the best that I have stayed in the city. I recommend it to all my friends and a lot of them go without knowing what to expect and come back very happy.

We stayed here for several days. pros and cons
pros: inexpensive, good food, friendly staff, nice pool area to hang out, air conditioning.
cons: not as clean as US hotels, most staff did not speak English, not a lot of amenities, noisy.

If you are looking for a local place to stay, this is it. If you are looking for the comforts of a US hotel, you won't be happy.

Got a single-person room here for $20/night. For a few dollars more, I could've had an air-conditioned room, but the floor-standing multi-speed oscillating fan they put in my room was perfect, and I stayed here three nights.

The $20 room was small, with barely enough space for the bed and a small TV on a stand. The room also had a closet and a private bathroom. With no desk in the room, I took my computer to their dining room when using the WiFi. The dining area was great for making friends with other travelers, too.

The linens showed some age but were clean and not torn. Good enough for $20! Use the old linens as long as possible to keep the price low, I say. People who want brand new linens should go to a more expensive hotel.

If you're like me, and you don't use your room except to sleep and shower, then Hotel D'Lido is for you, especially if you want to save your travel money for something else, like that colorful hammock I picked up in Masaya!

I've stayed at a few hotels in Managua, whether in transit through the city to other destinations or in the city for a few days. As a single woman traveling alone, it is important that I feel safe and I like to be well taken care of... and this hotel provides both! Family owned, I think, but feels like it... very friendly, took great care of me this trip. Pool, internet, and breakfast! I'll be back!!

Room Tip: Away from the street, although this hotel is super quiet.

At first I wasnt sure when I read the last review but..this place had great rooms for the price a pool and good food and the staff was helpful and friendly plus free internet you cant go wrong as far as the location was great too close to ruta maya and casa de mejia godoy great places to go to enjoy Nicaraguan music and great places for dinning eskimo and los ranchos are only a few blocks away. As far as Nicaragua after the earth quake there is no city center so you will need a car or taxi

I have stayed in Hotel D'LIdo several times and have had inconsistent service. Sometimes the service was very good and others not so much. The rooms vary in size and quality and some of the beds are somewhat brokendown. There is a swimming pool but it appears not to be cleaned on a regular basis. The bar and pool can be quite noisy and, since the grounds are small, some of the rooms have little privacy.

Room Tip: Depending on needs...poolside or quiet
