“An OK Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2011

I stayed at this hotel for a week while in town for a humanitarian trip. The proximity to the airport is great. The food was mostly disappointing, although we all enjoyed the free breakfast buffet every morning. The pool and gardens were nice. There was free wifi in the lobby. The rooms were decent, but the beds were very, very firm and uncomfortable for me. The biggest complaint for us were the mosquitoes in our hotel rooms. I would spray myself and my bed with bug spray before bed, and still woke up with several new mosquito bites. By the end of the week I had at least 2 dozen bites all over. I suspect they are getting into the room when the maids clean the rooms (and leave the doors wide open). If you're planning on staying here, make sure to bring your bug spray!

I was surprised how nice this hotel was given it's 2 minutes from the airport! The hotel shuttle driver was waiting for us when we got through custom and it was honestly a 2 minute drive to the hotel. The hotel lobby/bar/business center were all clean and lovely. Our room was nice and clean. We stayed the first night we were in town and the last and both rooms where just fine. The bar has great food. Internet speed in the business center is super fast. The pool and grounds were amazing given it was an airport hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who needed to spend a night by the Managua airport. Oh, breakfast is included and fantastic! Our last night we had to leave before breakfast was served (5am via airport shuttle, worked perfectly) but they are nice enough to put out coffee, juice and pastries.

We chose the Camino Real on our first night in Nicaragua for its proximity to the airport and its shuttle because we were flying to the Corn Islands early the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The rooms are extremely comfortable, the grounds and gardens are expansive (including a large aviary with some of the meanest-tempered parrots I have every encountered!) and the pool is very nice. There is free internet in the lobby and bar and, although we didn’t dine at the hotel, we used the bar and found the prices to be reasonable. The hotel is a very short ride from the airport, and the shuttle runs every half hour. A great pick if you are looking for an airport hotel.

After flying into Managua I rented a car from Avis. They took me to pick up my car and there was this hotel. Wonderful gardens and birds out front. But it was an airport hotel so I did not think it would be a good vacation hotel. Our First day we went to the Hilton but planned on traveling to the North to visit friends. We decided to try this hotel for one night and ended up spending the whole week there.

Beauitful pool area- the pool buffet on weekend was like a dream. Walk to the Casino. Very nice rooms but the bed was a little hard for my taste. I can not think of a hotel this nice and beautiful being an AIRPORT HOTEL! I will use this next time too.

Stayed here one night. Good rooms and amenities, but staff had an "attitude" and very high food & drink prices. For what we paid for dinner, we could have eaten for 2 days elsewhere in the country. Did have a Happy Hour, but from 7-9 PM, that helped with drink prices.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Camino Real only because we had to overnight in Managua before an early a.m. flight the next day. The location is close to the airport, but that puts you quite a ways out from any other attractions. The service was very good as you would expect from a hotel of this size. The staff were able to communicate very well in english. The pool area is nice. You have to pay for wireless internet everywhere except for the lobby (it's $5.75USD for 24 hrs). The only major problem that we had was that one of the beds had obviously not been changed since the last person slept in it. The pillow cases were dirty and full of hair. When looking for a hotel near the Managua airport there is also the Best Western. Check out their reviews before staying here.
