We really enjoyed staying at this property which is run by a lovely family and we felt as guests in their home as opposed to a hotel . Breakfast is serene and choices are plentiful .And they do serve drinks and light meals in to the early evening. The location is very residential ....quiet and surrounded by embassy homes which is perfect, but you do need to arrange for traNSportation if you want to go anywhere, which is fine and not a big deal . Perfect place to be in Managua, close enough to where you may want to go in the city , but away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. If you are passing through Managua for a few nights, I highly recommend a stay at this family-run B&B

Room Tip: Rooms 5 and 6 were spacious, clean and comfortable .

Small rooms, and be careful with the one downstairs and for one person, it does not have view, and has the problem that faces a hall where other guests stay late night, which would not let you sleep.
Not really close to restaurants or places, you will need ground transportation to get around.

Room Tip: Check the rooms before getting into them

We stayed there 2 nights, one night before flying to Corn Islands and the night before returning to Canada. Staff was very helpful as we had early flights so they had to wake up and let us out of the hotel as it is locked at night. Also, where we showed up late to check in, they let us order food, which was delicious, even after kitchen was closed. Rooms are clean with A/C, beautiful pool and amazing pictures and rock and roll memorabilia on the walls.

We had an unhappy experience here. We had reserved a specific room, the only one with a bath tub(which I needed for medical reasons), four months in advance. When we arrived, we were required to pay in advance for all nights we would be there, and before we saw our room. When we saw it, we immediately said, This is the wrong room. The night clerk said he did not know anything. It was late at night, so we figured we would just straighten it out in the morning. but in the morning, it turned out the room we had reserved had been given to other travelers. The room we were in was $40 less a night, according to Booking.com. We asked for a refund of the difference. After a long argument, the hotel agreed to the refund, but said it would take two weeks to process. Then, as we were leaving, they called our cab to the airport to say they were not going to give us the refund! And they never did. We had to appeal to Booking.com, who did get us our money back. The hotel does have pretty gardens, but the gardens did not make up for the unpleasantness.

Room Tip: If you ask for a specific room, make sure you get it before you pay!

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip - you cannot do better in Managua. Gorgeous secret garden patio for breakfast and dinner. And you cannot beat the birdsong in the morning. Rooms have good A/C, lovely balcony, hot showers. Breakfast was excellent, as was the dinner they prepared for me late upon my arrival. Managua is a hot, sprawling mess, and this little corner is such a wonderful little hidden gem. Don't worry about being a little far from "town" - there's really nothing to see there anyway. Stay here in Managua - you will not do better.

This is the perfect hotel if you want to stay a bit outside of the city-center. The gardens are very very beautful with lots of different flowers and a large pool. The interesting architecture gives room for beautiful paintings, masks and lots of different art-work. If you need to relax from work or an exhausting trip - this is the place to be.
Staff members might try to sell you extra services at very high cost (e.g. airport transfer, eggs for breakfast, food and drinks) - but it's easy to avoid that with a friendly "no".

I stayed at Villa Maya because I had an early flight out of Managua. I chose correctly!

Located in a walled compound in one of the better neighborhoods in Managua, this restored colonial home just oozes charm. From the beautiful pool to the well-kept gardens and pre-Columbian artifacts on display in the lobby, this hotel has much to offer. My room was quite modern, with a comfortable bed and clean-as-a-whistle bathroom with hot water.

After spending the afternoon lounging around the pool, I dined on the patio. My meal, though it took a long time to appear, was quite good. Service was attentive.

Why spend the night in an impersonal corporate chain hotel when you can have all the comforts of home? The only down side is that it is not terribly close to the airport, however, it's worth the extra travel time to stay at Villa Maya.
