“Comfortable business hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2011

Location: good, secure part of city, nice views; on a quiet cul-de-sac, but near the Zona Rosa with some nightlife.
Rooms: Standard Sheraton, big enough, clean enough, smelled fine. Unbelievably, no WiFi in the room, only wired HSI.
Hallways: very long and very white, and a lacking in character.
Club Lounge: the highlight of my stay - my office away from home. WiFi available here, with comfortable tables, a little living room with sofas and TV, continental+ breakfast, snacks and drinks in the evening. The staff in the lounge was excellent, very accomodating and friendly.
My visit was short and I didn't get to the pool or gym, but I'd like to return and explore some more.

Room Tip: Get the executive/lounge floor, pool view side.

Good service, courteous staff, friendly overall but the restaurant and lobby bar could include more options in their menus. Location is kinda far from many of the fun going places although the security around the area seems pretty good.

The Sheraton Presidente San Salvador is not a surprise. The rooms, bathroom, breakfast were as we expect from a Sheraton Hotel and we have not very much to say.
The service was fine and the people kind. Our problem in El Salvador and at San Salvador was not in the hotel. In fact for the first time as tourist I had been victim of the thiefs, and they robbed me one SLR camera and three lens but this was not fault of the hotel. Be aware at El Salvador!!!

I still love the restaurant here, especially for breakfast. Its open air, breezy atmosphere is just really something special. However, the hotel is becoming a construction zone with incessant clanging going on around the pool area non-stop. This takes away from the tranquility of the location, the restaurant, the pool, everything really. And the rooms I find, after this my fourth visit, are wildly different in size and comfort. We've had some lovely, large, well-layed out rooms, and then there was this last one that we could barely move around in. And the hallways have both an unpleasant look (a hospital), and horrid smell (some sort of cleaning product) that make the walk to your room a fairly unappealing process. On the up side, great selection of channels on the TV and one of the better hotels gym you will come across. Also, great rates on massages, though they were booked up while we were there.

This is really a wonderful hotel No matter if you are there for business or vacation. It serves both in a perfect way. A very friendly and helpful stuff at the reception makes you feel welcome from the beginning. I had a room with viewside towards the swimmingpool. lovely ... peaceful ... quiet ... . The breakfast on the open terrace is excellent. All you wish you will find and get! The rooms are spacious and comfortable and very clean. Hoep to be back soon! really soon!

My wife and I just got back from spending a couple of days at Sheraton in San Salvador. The location is within walking distance to the Zona Rosa which has some very good restaurants and nightclubs. The hotel pool is very attractive and grounds are nicely kept. We also enjoyed the fact that we could walk to the Modern Art museum right out front as well as the Archaeological Museum about 5 blocks down. The other reviewers are right when they mention the noise. When there is an event by the pool there will be noise until about midnight but we knew that coming in so it didn't bother us.

The Sheraton will be considered a superbly elegant hotel, if this was still 1960. Not only is the décor badly in need of an update, many of the fixtures are just a little worse for wear. The entire building could use a paint job if this property wants to look like it belongs to a world class hotel chain. Little things seem to have been left unattended since they were first installed decades ago. Pull the bathroom tissue and the roller creeks like a rusty old bicycle in need of grease. The once shiny chrome soap dish in the tub shower has gone dull with years of hard water beating on it. One marble tile in the shower was repaired with some type of mortar that was left visible like a scar. The rooms all have spacious balconies overlooking the resort-like pool area and a majestic mountain, but surprisingly no patio furniture on which to sit and enjoy the great views. If we were going to stay longer, we would have asked housekeeping to bring a couple of chairs from the pool area.
Even though the hotel is not quite up to Sheraton’s usual standards, don’t get me wrong. The hotel is quite clean and the furnishing comparable to that of many good but moderately priced hotels in the US, and if you could get the room for under $100 a night thanks to the ongoing promotions, then why fuss! Not only is it a good deal, it is one of the very few choices in a low key, “untouristy” town that is simply not known for five-star properties.
On the positive side, the Terrazzo restaurant is absolutely enchanting with its white table cloth setting in a tropical paradise full of palms, a huge lighted pool and tiki huts, or more appropriately, giant tiki pagodas. Coming from South Florida, we are a little jaded on the tropical paradise stuff, but Terrazzo is impressive. If this hotel restaurant was somewhere in the city, it would certainly have made the guide books. The buffet du jour was Mediterranean and at $28 including a drink, not a bad value for a big name hotel restaurant. Not having such a huge appetite, we simply ordered a ceviche and an El Salvadorian platter from the menu and were not disappointed. There was a small steak in the platter that was absolutely steakhouse quality. The papusas were not quite street vendor quality, though.
The service all over the hotel is quite attentive. The doorman leaps to open the door as though it is even necessary in a high-traffic hotel with doors opening and closing every second. The housekeeping staff must be following strict codes of conduct because I forgot to pack my cell phone charger when checking out, and when I called the hotel several hours later to inquire, it indeed had been found and dutifully turned in by the cleaning person to the front desk. Considering it costs $15 in town – I had checked at a phone shop in the mall – I was quite happy it had been found and reported. Chalk one up for Sheraton.
