Small but interesting displays on the anthropology and ceramics of El Salvador. Also a temporary exhibit on the women of wartime El Salvador when we were there. Worth a stop. (Also a nice cafe adjoining the museum.)

Very beautiful and interesting. The museum was quiet and easy to explore, and the gift shop and cafe were nice as well, although slightly expensive.

I walked to the museum from my hotel (Alicante) in La Sultana & it has a nice series of displays about the culture & history of the area--displays on agricultural development, cacao. coffee, maize, for example. I recall that the exhibitions are signed only in spanish but the message is still discernable by english only speakers.
There was at the time (nov 2012) a special exhibition on the women (leftist) during the civil war (1980-92), something of an oral history (then & now) which was fascinating.
The gift shop has an excellent cultural/historical map for $10, which is notable both for framing but for my purposes, was the best road map I have been able to obtain.
