Ximena's is quite run down and definitely lacks in atmosphere. Lena is really kind however, and when we had to complain about the first room they gave us, they upgraded us to a nicer one with no extra charge. Thank goodness because the first one was really a box underneath the stairs with the toilet seat falling off and the shower inside the bathroom with zero space. It reminded me of Bolivia (no offense, Bolivia!). The upgraded room was right next to the reception however, so we learned to wake up around 7am or earlier to the noise of the ladies.
The surrounding neighborhood is safe to walk around, even at night, so that is a plus. As mentioned by another reviewer, the nearby restaurants are all the US chains, so it definitely won't give you a culture taste of El Salvador. We were only here for a bit anyways so it didn't matter much to us.More
