If you are interested in architecture this is a must see. Relatively new (1960), this is the third church on this site. The first was the original San Salvador Cathedral (destroyed by earthquake I think about 1850), the second burned in the 1950s. the architect is primarily a sculptor in iron, and much of his work is inside. The ugly outside does not prepare you for the amazing interior. Often looks closed, but ask the guard for entry.
