“Worth visiting”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

The caves are worth visiting. The exhibitions also. But the indications are really not clear. We went there twice to find the miniature museum. Avoid weekend, because full of people.

“Beautiful architecture”

Great for photography. Remember to wear a scarf to cover your head if you're a woman. The caves are very narrow and a bit claustrophobic. No pictures allowed in churches.

“Large Complex of Churches and Museums”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

This is an all day event. Preferably in good weather because you will be walking from building to building.

Important that you get to the entrance of the caves by 15:00 to be allowed entry. You have to pass all the museums and churches first. Throw in a lunch at one of the cafes and you may be short on time. Dress conservatively or you won't be let into the caves and some of the churches.

There are several museums on property too. Each requires a few Grivnas for entry. There is cobblestone on most of the areas here. Wear appropriate shoes.

The caves are interesting but the entire complex are worth the visit. There are a few cultural landmarks around the complex too such as the Patriot Museum and park and the Modern Museum.

An all day event. At the bottom of the complex follow the people out and walk to the Arsenal station instead of walking back to the top of the complex.

“Eerie and mystical cave monastery”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

The grounds of the monastery are beautiful, but the main attraction is the caves.

We went without a guide and it felt rushed. Because both tourists and worshippers go through the tunnels at the same time, you can't really stop to keenly observe much of anything or take in the ambience. For as long as it lasts, however, the atmosphere is a unique experience - narrow tunnels lit only by the collective flickers of scores of candle tapers. Space yourselves out so you don't burn someone or get burned!

That was a really big one. You can spend easily 2 or 3 hours without the perception of time. Another good thing is it's really near to the Dnipro River. Really valid!
