The Perchersk Lava is an amazing religious experience. There are upper and lower caves, each requiring a separate admission, but both over deliver on the holy experience.
There is an unusual network of underground passages (essentially streets), where various Saints are entombed. I have been to Kiev more than 7 times and each occasion requires my visit to the Lavra.
You can also make a donation to one of the local priest for blessings of good health, good luck, safe travel and more.
There is an amazing story which is told by the locals ... I know this to be true as I directly heard it from my in-laws who are native Ukrainians living in Kiev!
Apparently when the NAZI's ran over Ukraine, they took all of the entombed saints and loaded them into lorrys or trucks. They desired to relocate them to some storage facility or worse. When it came time for the caravan transit to start, NONE ... that is NONE ... of the vehicles were able to start their engines, yet alone move!
The NAZI's were force to replace the saints to their original location and to abandon the entire relocation effort!!
This is a must see attraction.
