This is not a gourmet experience but a quick fix for when you want a calorie kick, I suppose its the equivalent of going for a kebab after a drink with friends however this sort of hot dog is allot more popular. Its filling and does the job and I try and have at least one when I am in Kyiv :-) Apparently this booth and format of hot dog has been here for a number of years and is a Kyiv institution :-)

Absolutly no harm in taking a bite at least once....go on try something new :-D...

The price is 5 UAH=50 EUR cents. The line you have to wait to get it is impressive! But the taste is worth it. Though the sausage needs to get bigger considering the amount of bread it is surrounded by!

The sausage is good, but not that better then a usual hotdog, so why do people stand in line outside and then eat the perepichka thing on the go? So if you see this "attraction", I definitely recommend to go next door to the book store (about 100 meters up the street) and drink some coffee there.

There is one thing on the menu at this 200-year-old place (literally just a window on a side street)- perepichka. And this is apparently the last place in Kiev to make them. There is usually a line down the street for these delicious, greasy goodies. A soft, mild sausage wrapped in deep fried dough, I usually had to get two - one to eat hot and another for my lengthy trip home on the metro.

"It's like a hot dog doughnut. Two of these would kill Paula Deen. Okay, maybe not. They'd interest her greatly." -Anthony Bourdain, eating perepichka for the first time. Yes, they are abominably unhealthy and cheap. But oh so good. Visited in Spring 2008.
