Central, very nice place, historical building, good rooms.
The swimming pool is a right place to spend some relax time.
Rooms are pleasant, a bit too warm but with some good tuning, you can sleep well.
Wireless access for free and very powerful.

The first impression: an old good hotel. I mean Old, not time worn. In fact, it is a modern hotel, but carefully stick to the legacy of its 101 years' history (founded in 1909), so styled accordingly. You can notice this right at the entrance and then in every little detail of design, carpet, furniture, lobby, etc. On your way to the room don't forget to pick a nice red apple from a tazza nearby elevators at each floor, though there are complimentary fruits in the room as well as a complimentary bottle of spring water and a nice tasty "good-night" chocolate sweet. A standard room may appear to be a little bit smaller than you may expect in a hotel of such level, but it is functional and nice furnished (not that usual "Ikea sell-off" style!). What I was really missing in my room it was a kettle. Minibar is fine, but I'm used to having a cup of tea. It would be also good to have an iron in the room. Internet is pretty fast and it's free of charge. The bathroom, this is definitely something they can be proud of! And, specially appreciated a heated towel rail, which is very(!) useful if you go to gym or spa and don't have to pack up damp gymwear or wet swimming suit. The fitness club in this hotel is really worth your visit!
Breakfast is very good - the choice and quality of food, table setting and hospitality, all that was without a flaw. Breakfast is served in a restaurant on the 8th floor, if you're lucky to take a table by the window, you can also enjoy the view of Kiev during your breakfast and value hotel's central location.
The bottom line, despite the fact that it doesn't bear a known brand name, I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: At breakfast try to take a table by the window to enjoy the view of Kiev. Spa and gym are worth you...

Ukraine has some interestingnon-chain luxury hotel, including the Premier palace in Kiev, the Leopolis in Lvov, the Otrada in Odessa, the Oreanda in Yalta, the Aurora in Charkov and the Donbass Palace in Donezk. I liked the posh interior at the Premier Palace, nice rooms on the executive level with Bulgari amenities and the good crowd in the public areas. The location is also very good. Problematic are the tendencies for rip-offs in the room price, the F&B prices and the strip bar on the 7th floor. The swimming pool is nice, but I experienced a swimming lesson for kids (screaming) at 9 in the morning. The service at valet, reception and exec lounge was good.

Very beautiful hotel and good food. Rooms are small but very elegant. No views from hotel room which is a huge disappointment Overall, a very good hotel but overpriced. Stayed for three (3) days New Year's Holiday special which included New Year's dinner and breakfast next day. Have stayed several times at other times of year as well, and always go to bar and spacious lounge when in Kiev (six times a year). Front desk has English speaking and very efficient, not to mention, handsome and beautiful attendents. Reasonable special prices but generally overpriced. Swimming poot is small and water very cold. Fitness room seems to be more for club members (?) or non-members (?) and not hotel guests. Bar area off lobby is spacious and foreign newspapers available. Business center is excellent with good business services provided. Top floor restaurant is a little expensive for the service and food - but then again, Ukrainian food and cooking is nothing to write home about. Location is excellent assuming you have business in central Kiev - not sure if anyone does. Very bizarre website. Doesn't work, seems to steal your credit card information, etc. DO NOT book this hotel through its website. At entrance and side of hotel, normal, massive blacked out windows Chevy Suburbans, Mercedes 500's and 600's and Cadillac Escalades are parked on the sidewalks, on the street, in the entrance way. One wonders if what is said of Ukraine and rich Ukrainians is really true ... Ukrainians may have money but the money doesn't necessarily buy class, unless you want to show if off by wasting it on overpriced hotel rooms. Easy come, easy go.

Room Tip: no recommendation

We can't review the hotel as we only used it's 8th floor restaurant, but we need to share our impressions on this.
Terracotta restaurant is a pretentious place where over priced food is served. The view over the city is fantastic, and the service is pretty good. But then there's a guy playing the usual easy-listening crap on the piano... And what's worse considering this is a restaurant in one of the most exclusive hotels in Kiev: The food is less than average. Warm salad served cold, fish over cooked, sauces with a suspicious artifical flavour... and those prices! We went there expecting the restaurant to be expensive, but we were also expecting it to be high quality. It's not, it's almost a pathetic nouveau rich joke. The most shocking issue: A glass of still water costs more than a glass of good wine, an appetizer, or a desert! Seriously! 150 UAH, just for your information. Amazing. We didn't know whether to cry or to laugh when we saw this in our bill.
