“New hotel in Kiev”
Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

I travel to Kiev for business purposes about once every two month. For me it is most important to get a good night sleep and this Holiday Inn is the best place to rest in Kiev in my opinion. The hotel is brand new and you can smell it in the air. This includes mattrases, towels, bed linen and the bathroom. These small details make are so important at least to me).
The location is very convinient as you are set right in the center of Kiev, yet on the quiet side street of the mai road with plenty restaurants in the area.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, including room service. One thing to remember is if you are hungry make sure you order before 22:00 otherwise you only get a choice of cold dishes.
I was very pleased with the wifi, which is free and allows to watch video. I was very surprised to find a gym on eleventh floor, which is not big, but has the essntial gear for a workout. In fact this gym is the best out of all hotel gyms in Kiev.
Overall this is now my favorite hotel in Kiev. Best price to quality ratio. Will defenetley book here on my visits.

Stayed here last weekend with my partner, her 17 year old son and our 5 year old daughter. The hotel has only been open for a couple of months and I don't think word has got around about this hotel yet. There must be in the region of 200 rooms and in our three night stay I estimate we only saw another ten to fifteen guests. So quiet!!
The hotel is on a small street that runs between the two busy one-way thoroughfares of Hor'Koho St and Chevonoarmiis'ka St. Being new, it is spotlessly clean and features large photos of the exterior of the nearby church on Chevonoarmiis'ka St in reception and in the bedrooms. A ten minute walk on Chevonoarmiis'ka St will bring you to the Olimpiiska metro station. The Olympic stadium, venue for the Euro 2012 final and several other matches, is next to the station and could just be seen from our 6th floor window.
All the receptionists we dealt with spoke fluent English and Ukrainian (obviously). We could leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out. Even the cleaner I encountered outside our room spoke English! The hotel has wi-fi throughout, which I put to great use.
The rooms themselves have air conditioning, telephone, tea and coffee, bottled water and a 26" Samsung flat screen tv with a multitude of Ukrainian and Russian stations plus a selection of news stations from throughout Europe.
The bathroom had a steam resistant mirror which was handy after a hot shower. The shower screen was only 2'6" long and didn't prevent water going on the floor. I suggest putting a towel down if you've a spare.
The lights in the room proved enigmatic. Working out which switch operated which lights proved perplexing.
As previously mentioned the hotel was quiet, so much so that at breakfast the waiting staff were almost queueing up for something to do. You could almost sense them watching you as you put your last forkful in your mouth, eager to clear your plate away. They fell over themselves to bring your toast to the table after you'd loaded the toaster - to bring your omelette after you'd chosen your filling(s). We didn't see more than four tables taken at any one time. There was almost more staff than customers.
The breakfast was very nice and had a fine selection of quality foods - enough choice for everyone. A chef cooked fresh omelettes to order.
We had a fantastic stay for an absolute rock bottom price, having booked in January when the hotel was months from completion. I would imagine this hotel will be above our budget when we return to Kiev in 2013. However, if the price is right we'll not hesitate to return.
On a general note, one thing to be aware of in the vicinity of the hotel and on other streets in Kiev, motorists don't hesitate to park on the pavements. Therefore they often drive on the pavements too, so be aware.

This is a brand new (less than two months old) clean outstanding hotel. The staff is absolutely wonderful - cheerful, ready to help, speaking all three languages (Ukrainian, Russian and English). The location is very good - about three blocks from the Olimpiyski (formerly Respublikanskij Stadion) metro station - so within two stops you could be at the Kreschatik (the main street) or within 3 stops at the Kievsko-Pechorska Lavra (one of the Orthodox Church gems). There are plenty of restaurants of all sorts within a very short walking distane (French bakery Gregoire or German Backerei, Italian Pizza Mafia or Japanese food restaurants as well as Blinoff that serves Ukrainian food). If you are in a mood for very pricey seafood, Doversole is your friend - for most of these hotels, there should be little booklets in the lobby with 20% discounts. There is a MegaStore as well with a great selection of breads, fruit, wines, cheeses and meats.
The Towers restaurant on the premises is outstanding - slightly pricey, but the quality of service and the inventiveness of the chef more than make up for it - so come down and enjoy it. The rooms have eletric kettles/free coffee/teas/packaged cream as well.. The room service after hours is mostly Chicken Caesar salad, so make sure you remember to eat before that.
The rooms very very tiny - the simple double bed room was the same size as the King Executive room - the only differences I noticed were the amenities (bathrobe, minibar etc.) The chair is extremely low, and there is no handle to adjust it = you may want to call the front desk to ask them to adjust it to your height - otherwise it is unusable.
The airconditioners are brand new and very quiet, so quiet in fact that you can hear barking of the stray dogs outside (there are many of those in Kiev). The quality of bed linen and towels is perfect - brand new, highly absorbent and plentiful. The bathroom is well-equiped (brand new modern faucets, showers etc.) with even the heating elements behind the middle section of the mirror to reduce the fogging... The only gripe is that they kept the bathtub - so it is EXTREMELY hard to climb into it to take showers, as the space is miniscule.
There is a safe, an iron and an ironboard in the room. The flat screen is placed on the wall, so that there is no way of tilting it or moving in any other way - so you are stuck with the way it is, selection of channels is passable (6 or 7 Ukrainian, 4 Russian, 3 German, CNN, BBC, TV5, Turkish and a couple of Arabic channels as well).
There is a construction nearby - but it was very quiet. The fitness center is very small, but well equiped - no saunas, no showers. No Club room either. So a pretty decent Holiday Inn, all in all.
The price was right, location - superb, quality - outstanding, staff - excellent. HIGHLY recommended.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write a very comprehensive review on our hotel and surrounding area. As an experienced traveller we were all so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. I would like to let you know that we do have some rooms in the hotel with shower only. These are standard rooms, facing the inner courtyard of the hotel. Should you visit Kiev in the future I would be delighted to show you one of these for your consideration.
Once again thank you for very kind comments and observations.

NEW HOTEL WITH A PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED AND FRIENDLY STAFF. We felt like we were welcomed home. Everyone that worked at this hotel were eager to please. From the potter, desk clerks, bartenders, house cloning staff and the wait staff. Also a great location, only a ten minute Walk to the subway or metro. The only thing we did not do at this hotel was have the breakfast buffet. The price was the same as having a nice dinner out. Next month on our water back to Texas we will stay here again for a long weekend. I highly recommend it. And thank you to all the staff that took care of all our needs.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the street and at a level at 4 floor and above

Stayed at the HI Kiev for a weekend, as the weekend package offered looked quite good and it suited my travel commitments.

The staff on reception and at breakfast were superb.

The hotel is very modern and well appointed. The room was very comfortable, quiet and offered a great nights sleep. The internet was very good.

Breakfast was a medium sized cold buffet with enough variety and hot dishes available to be ordered from a menu.

The hotel is close to numerous restaurants and cafes (just over 5 mins walking) on a central street heading for the city centre. Also located on this street is the Olympic Stadium Metro stop.

The hotel is a little way from the centre, but the walk is pleasant and a nice introduction to Kiev. The location in my opinion gives the hotel a more relaxed and peaceful feeling.

The hotel has a gym but I never had time to use it, maybe next time!!

The only small issue I had was with the checkout. The package allowed me to check out until 1600, but I was asked why I hadn't checked out yet.

Stayed Thursday to Saturday, Great! out of the main traffic area. It is a short Metro ride from Kryshatyk, many Restaurants nearby.
Breakfast not quite the value I expected bit pricey, but it's new, staff keen to help and please guests.I could not fault the Hotel at all.
Breakfast price needs tweaking though it was dearer than London. A very pleasurable expierience I would book again without hesitation and recomend to any future traveller. 10/10

Room Tip: Fine no panorama but rooms 10/10
