Our last morning in Kiev happened to be last Sunday. Our Holiday Inn hotel was a 10 minute walk from the stadium so we sauntered down to take a few photos from the outside. We saw people on the walkways inside the stadium gates and a steady stream of people from the Olimpiiska metro station walking to the stadium. So we joined them and saw an open gate being manned several smart gentlemen. My partner's Ukrainian so she asked them what was happening at the stadium, It was a convention for Jehovah's Witnesses!! We were allowed to enter and went into the stands alongside several thousand JW's who were listening to the preachers / speakers. We took a few photos and left. We felt uneasy because all the ladies were wearing skirts and dresses except my missus and daughter. All the men and boys wore long trousers except me. We stood out somewhat and attracted curious glances.
The stadium is beautiful with it's different coloured seats creating a speckled effect. It would great to see a footy match or gig here. I believe Madonna played here a fortnight ago.
So we had an opportunistic visit and the chance to see this wonderful stadium for free!!
