You have to go to see it. It can not be described. We had an incredible guide. The tragic consequences can only be seen in one place in the world. Solemn place that reminds humanity how fragile life is.

The one day tour of Chernobyl was the highlight of a recent trip to Ukraine. Igor was my guide. I opted for the private tour which was expensive but it is much faster when you are by yourself and you get to see more. Unless you are someone traveling to Ukraine just to visit Chernobyl or wanting to do some extensive photography, I think the single day tour is sufficient.
I was expecting to see the desolation - I had seen the photos over the year. But there is so much more to the tour. It was incredibly educational, filled with facts you would not have known without a knowledgeable guide. For example, because of the limited access of human beings, the wildlife in the exclusion zone is thriving, with large numbers of Ukraine's native forest dwellers. There are more wolves in the area then any other place in the world (we saw a large one cross the road at one point).
The tour of Pripyat is the highlight as expected, with the famous amusement park and abandoned buildings. If you do get into some of the buildings, they are amazing and the school and civic center (theater and gym) are highlights.
We had time to visit the Soviet "Duga" radar complex and I was so glad we did. The visit to the radar is fascinating and not to be missed.
I done the two day tour, allowing for a night to be spent inside of the exclusion zone!
First of all, the level of support before flying was first class. The team were great in getting back to me, it was the highest level of professionalism. The great level of organisation was continued on the morning of our departure, our mini bus was on time, clean and ready to go!
Chernobyl speaks for itself, what a place to visit! I think everyone should visit at some point of their life, it reminded me of my trip to Hiroshima in many ways. The reactor itself was haunting, the same as the theme park. A must visit for anyone in Ukraine!
On the days we were there, it was really hot. As such, make sure you take lots of water and have plenty of snacks with you. For obvious reasons, there are no opportunities to buy food and drink as you're going around, so make sure you have enough for a long day of walking with you on the bus.
The two day tour was great, although the second day of activities did not come close to the first day. If i was to do the tour again, i would just do the one day version. Having said that, it was worth doing the two day tour, just to spend the night inside the zone.
I highly recommend this trip!
Everything was good with their service. Quick respond from emails, clear payment system (online by bank card), easy to find the meeting point in the morning. Our guide was Misha and he was super super super nice and cool person. The trip and everything with Solo East Travel was perfect except one thing : we found some of the stops not so interesting (like some statues etc) and then we did not have time to explore some more exciting places in Pripyat like hospital and supermarket. We would wanted to explore Pripyat more and skip some other parts. Anyway, we are still satisfied with the trip we had and we have recommended the company for our friends.
Thank you for your review - we really appreciate it. We try to satisfy all our coustomers needs. To make sure you visit all the interesting places we invite you on a private tour and hope to see you in the future.
I was privileged to join a full day tour to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone 2 days ago. From the start, the tour was well organised, punctual and extremely professional. Our guides, Nadia and Alex were immensely knowledgeable about the history of the dreadful tragedy which occurred at Chernobyl Plant no. 4 on 26th April 1986. Speaking perfect English, they guided us through abandoned villages, showed us the overgrown main streets and abandoned villages, playgrounds, kindergartens, primary schools, social centers, sports centers, and the actual site of Chernobyl reactors, including the No. 4 reactor and it's 'sarcophagus', which hopefully will cover the reactor in 2017 for 100 years. This was a full day tour, starting at 08.00am and finishing back to Kiev Maidan at 7pm approx. including a substantial lunch. We saw everything, and this tour is real value for money. I enjoyed every minute and have to recommend this tour with Nadia (fantastic) and Alex (brilliant and fun). You will not regret it!
I was meant to go on the tour on the 23rd, but due to my phone showing the wrong time, I missed it on that day. Luckily for me, SoloEast were kind enough to let me on a tour in the next few days. On the drive to the exclusion zone, they show a few DVDs and clips that help you understand the history of Chernobyl and what you're going to see. My guide for the day was Constantine (I think that was his name?). He was a funny guy and knew a lot about the area. He would take photos for you if needed, and brought a pack of biscuits to feed to the giant catfish near the reactors. The tour it's self is great, and its really shocking to see how much things have grown and changed in 20 years. Especially the football field in the stadium! If you're planning on going on a trip to Chernobyl, make sure it's with SoloEast, and try to get Constantine as your guide, because he definitely obeys all the laws and doesn't treat his group to things ;)
