This is not a place you come to eat. You come here to spend time. The interior, atmosphere and the particularly slow service are concurring to a lazy pastime.
We came to OK Bar for a breakfast, on a week-end morning when it was nearly empty. A hostess, waiters, just about everyone was smiling happily as if they were only waiting for us – and voila! It was very nice, but at the end of the day I would have forgiven less warmth in exchange for a speedier service.
Choosing between the restaurant hall and the famous window-wall terrace, we opted for the latter to enjoy a sunny late autumn day, and comforted on the coaches, facing the so-called “Police garden”. Too low to eat comfortably, unlike tables that were also there, the coaches were perfect for an unhurried conversation. If it only weren’t for one annoying fly circling around us as soon as the meals was served...
They have a new Chef now, hence the new menu. The menu is reasonably diverse, with an Italian touch. Meals sizes and prices are fixed now.
Portions were not extremely sizeable, but certainly not tiny. We managed to eat starters, main course and dessert. Each presentation was excellent, and the food was very good, yet not impressive enough to tempt me to come back here specifically to eat. But I’m certainly coming back to enjoy the atmosphere.
Prices are ok for this quality (we ended at about US$ 130 for two), and for what the OK Bar positions itself (higher-end). But get ready that wines served by glass come at about UAH 150-180 (US$ 19-22) for 150ml. Selection of drinks, be that liquors, cocktails, or hot and soft drinks, was very good. I have particularly enjoyed their berry teas.
There’s a street parking in front of the bar, free for the bar guests. On week-days it might be tough to find a place as this is a central busy street OK Bar sits on, between Olympic Stadium and St.Nicolas Cathedral - Organ Hall.
