“Great place.”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

one of the best place in nature, every old small house are interesting to see, big nature place to spend a full day and to eat traditional food.

A lot of green and nature places in Kiev and Pirogovo is one of the best.

You need one bus to be there and the tickets and food are very cheap.

“Interesting place”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

Here you will get a very good idea of how old villagers in the area used to live through different times. You will even how churches were. Nice place (long walk, or drive in, or by bike), and you can even have eat local cuisine at some small shops.

“Typical conglomerate for tourists”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

I visited this open air museum in December, of course, not the perfect time for this, but it was still interesting. If you are a in Ukraine for a quick visit, then yes, of course, this is an easy to get to attraction to get your feel for Ukrainian traditions, culture, history. However, if you have more time, there are many tours offered through private companies to real Ukrainian villages, where you can truly feel the culture and traditions and get a better sense of people and their rich history. Our tour stopped at the cafe/restaurant which was highly over priced with terrible service. Food was OK. Perhaps in summertime it is much more different, but if you really want to learn something about this beautiful country - take a trip around it and see for yourself.

“Great introduction to Ukrainian Heritage”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

Visited Pirogovo in 2012, great open air museum site, it has original and re built traditional Ukrainian houses from years gone by.

There is also huge expansive grounds to explore with many traditional crafts forsale and traditional Ukrainian activities going on.

Its a great place to visit in the summer time, in 2012 when i visited it was over 40 degrees and was very good day out.

A must visit if you want to experience traditional Ukrainian culture, its also not to far out of Kiev city centre

“Enjoyable day outdoors”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

There is a lot of ground to cover here. If you tend to want to see everything, liike I do, you need to be prepared for a full day. We visited on a week day and there were a few musicians performing on "folk" instruments. I think perhaps a weekend would have had more real life exhibits.
I'd recommend bringing snacks and water so you can rest when the feeling strikes you. The grounds are very interesting. You get to see what a village would look like from different regions in Ukraine. I especially enjoyed seeing the thatch roofs and the fences woven from long tree branches. It was a very enoyable day for our group despite not really being prepared for the size of the museum.
