Good food and a great ambiance.
WE went there after spending the day visiting the nearby sites which made a good finish to our day.
A bit pricey but overall fair.

Ok, so what if Tsarske Selo's decor is a little over the top, with the waiters wearing traditional folk dress and the tables are placed in what is supposed to ressemble a peasant's cottage? The summer terrace is a great place to spend some time, resting from Kiev traffic or a visit to Pechersk Lavra Monastery. If you like BBQ meat, then you will most definitely not be disappointed. Its enticing smell drifts over from the charcoal grill, and you'll be having a hard time choosing from the many options of meat, fish and veggies. Salads were superbly fresh, the desserts a delight, starters tasty. If you're looking for an authentic Ukrainian meal of great quality, and a lovely outdoor place - this is where to come.

We visited this restaurant twice; on the first occasion we had lunch outdoor and the place really look cozy and welcoming, the open grill liberate in the air a lovely smell of charcoal, the menu has a great number of local dishes, we tried some classical dish and they were tasty and well priced. The beverage was way too expensive; a bottle of 0,50 cl of local beer [can’t remember the name] I know it cost 5 Hryvna in any market was charged 50 Hryivna!!!!
Unfortunately the mark up on beverage is just out of any control here in Kiev and you may end up paying an espresso € 7,5 in you are having it in the lounge of some hotel……fact is the 1 kilo of 100% Arabica coffee beans cost to any hotel, restaurant, bar in between 280 to 390 Hryvna which is equal to € 28/39 and if you consider that only 7 grams of coffee beans are used to produce 1 espresso, you would do about 140 espresso with 1 kilo of coffee generating a revenue of about 1000 € versus an avg cost of € 35 ……..well you can do your own calculation on how much stay in their pocket.

Quite entertaining restaurant, nice to bring visitors to show Ukrainian "exotic", but never will come just to eat on my own, too expensive and pretentious

A place most foreigners visit being in Kiev. It's famous in local corporate world as a 'must visit' restaurant to pamper forein partners. Being adjacent to Lavra it serves as a gastronomic consummation of spiritual food for many travellers. Authentic Ukrainian dishes deserve trying. Not cheap, but quality. The waiters are well-trained. Decorations are really interesting for a newcomer, but seem a bit overdeveloped if you visit this place more than once. A band of musician is performing Ukrainian folk songs. If you are in the mood and can speak some Ukrainian or Russian, they are very interactive. You won't feel a Tsar here, but you'll like it.
