“nothing new, expensive”

Very new hotel, just open this year, but they made a very old fashion "rich" design. it is heavy and not very interesting. rooms are little. At the breakfast you can feel that croissant and bred were deep freezed, and you get them after microwave :( it is not 5 star level. For the same service, and same design but half the price go to Premier. For same price and good design, big rooms, real croissant go to Hyatt!

Beautiful hotel! What a luxury! Wonderful rooms. Excellent service, sweat staff. Very good location. Amazing breakfast.
We were really surprised to receive such a good service in the country where service has not existed till the very recent times!
The general experience of our stay in this hotel was very pleasant. Even my husband (who is a very difficult customer) was satisfied.
Having said, we were a bit disappointed with dinners.
The prices in their French restaurant are extremely high. But the food was just OK, and not more. Does not worth the money you spend.
The Italian restaurant is less expensive, but the food was not right. My advise – order there Ukrainian dishes, apparently this is what they cook best.

I've stayed over 50 nights in Kiev hotels over the past few years and the new InterContinental is not only the best hotel in Kiev but is of a true international 5* standard on all levels.

Quick examples:

- arranged pick up at airport and they sent a member of the concierge staff (Andrei who is superb) who had my key and checked me in on the way to the hotel.

- mini-bar is complimentary for all non-alcoholic beverages

- excellent (and free) wireless that works everywhere in the hotel

- brilliant and friendly staff

The physical plant is superb. You can sense real money, thought and time went into this. Food (and selection of food) is top notch and the roof bar is stunning.

I wish the InterContinental website did justice to this property. It has to be one of the best ones in the group.

Was in Kiev on my way back from seeing England loose to the Ukraine in Dnepro! Stopped at the IC and was very impressed. Nice and close by 3 of the main cathedrals as well as the Funicular and friendship arch. Lovely room and great leisure facilities.

I saw this hotel on the IC website early this year when I was booking a trip to Ukraine, and being that it was due to open in September I took a chance and booked a stay for early October. The hotel sent me a Powerpoint presentation in late August just before they opened that showed me what to expect, and it loked very nice.

As I've been to Kiev before and was arrivng with a group of friends who were staying in a different hotel I took the airport bus into town, and then caught the Metro to Independence Square. It's then a 5 minute walk up the hill to the hotel.

When I arrived on a Friday evening I certainly wasn't disappointed with what awaited. The hotel is still very new, and even at check-in I was made to feel like a very special guest. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and seemed genuinely interested in my trip to the Ukraine.

I had a standard room on the 6th floor at the front of the hotel, facing the square and church. The rooms were of a good size and decorated in the usual Intercon style. The bathroom was also very large with a bathtub and a separate shower room. Nice flat screen tv and a separate desk if you want to use your laptop, wi-fi available throughout the hotel. The only thing I would say is that if you're a very light sleeper you should try and get a room at the rear of the hotel, as the street outaside is made of cobble stones so you can just about hear the traffic in the mornings.

The swimming pool is very nice, and was a welcome relief after a long day sat in the car touring the area around Kiev. I didn't use the Spa but it also looked very nice.

The top floor has a bar called B-Hush, which I'm sure will become one of Kiev's trendiest spots for a drink. It isn't open yet but one of the staff took me up to show me the views of the city and they were fantastic.

I gave 5 stars for value, as I booked my stay a while before opening so got a very good deal. I'm sure the standard rates wil be much more than I paid, so you may not find it as good value for money as I did.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel in Kiev, great for business or a little bit of luxury for a city break if a leisure trip.
