Description: Yes, Spotykach really be proud! With such care together under one cover the most famous culinary hits of the Soviet era have not for everyone. Here is what restaurant critics over the years will be called "Ukrainian cuisine of the Soviet period," and the mere process of reading the menu is wild appetite. Salad leaves traditional herring under a fur coat, Olivier, Mimosa Capital, salad with beans and a dozen names. Then begins an even more pleasant discoveries. Take, for example, herring with anchovies on potatoes with onions or perch with mushrooms, fried pancakes. Sated fangled delights metropolitan restaurants audience inevitably return to the simple joys that are certain to become trump card Spotykach.

Nice restaurant, interesting design. Food was good, but I wouldn't call it my favourite place with Ukrainian cusine in Kiev.
Worse a try

We visited this restaurant following a recommendation found on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed.
Very quirky interior design with main dining area and individual booths, similar to a speakeasy.
Excellent menu with many local dishes.
Recommend the beet soup for starters and the blue, yellow and white dumplings for main course (colours of the Ukraine flag).
Great choice of vodka shots for an aperitif and Ukrainian wines on the menu too.
Tip: Order the chequers board with 12 x rum shots and 12 x chocolates for dessert
Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful meal here, reminiscent of a really good old style family dinner. The borsht was fabulous, and we loved the cabbage rolls (which were served very attractively in a small pot). the service was excellent, and the price very reasonable. Loved it.

I've long been interested in seeing what a modernist twist on Russian/Ukranian foods could look like and Spotykach provided a little bit of a window into such an approach, though it is a casual spot. The presentation is really fun, be it the literal chessboard of 16 differently infused vodka shots or the tube of Cosmonaut beef stroganoff that looks like it could have come out of Jeff Koons' studio, it's such a well-conceived and perfect looking product. Food both traditional and contemporary were delicious and fun and in their own educational about the culture, nostalgia and spirit of the country. It's the kind of place you want to return to to try different things on the menu and see what fun forms they may come in. The only thing that bummed us out was the cigarette smoking, which is not a problem for Spotykach specifically so much as a problem for Kiev everywhere. So many people smoke that it affects one's experience tasting the food, smell being perhaps the most essential element of one's ability to taste. I'd love to see a place like this create some sort of sanctuary for non-smokers who want to enjoy their food but still sit outside. In any case, I highly recommend this place if you want a strong, visually impressive but casual meal in Kiev.

Great service and really good food! Terrific local cuisine and their horseradish infused vodka was the best I ever had! Definitely a must visit for a an interesting spin on Ukrainian cuisine in a very relaxed casual setting.
