Description: "A Georgian without a guest is not a Georgian!" this is what considered in a hospitable Khinkali dukhan (tavern). Local customs will impress you with their generosity, extent and amiability, and our temperamental many-sided cuisine "with specific focus" is already a well-known gossip. Colorful interior of our venue won't leave you indifferent. At your disposal there are three main halls and two VIP-halls, and each of them is interesting and original. In Vostochnyi hall near the open bar counter there are a show kitchen and a bar zone where one can with his own eyes observe the secrets of Caucasian dishes preparation and taste delicious Georgian wines. In Vinogradnik hall there is a comfortable and romantic atmosphere. The hall is decorated with the real mountain rock, the ceiling is plaited with grape-vine, and the walls please the eye with the Oriental carpets and national souvenirs. Vinnyi Pogred is a comfortable hall which was named due to a large number of old wine bottles that serve as a main decoration element. Two VIP-halls Sultanka and Kniazheskaya Besedka will become a great place for holding negotiations, meetings with friends or family dinner. A cozy summer terrace opens its arms to meet the guests during the warm season. It allows you to leisurely watch the tumultuous life of the capital, enjoying the best gastronomic offers of sunny Georgia right in the center of Kyiv and gives a unique feeling of peace and tranquility. What else, except for traditional Caucasian hospitality and heartful company, makes Khinkali dukhan so popular? Correctly - delicious khinkali! Hot, aromatic, made of thin almost transparent dough - they just urge to get into your mouth! But this is only the beginning, we have much more to impress you. Menu of the venue is a real horn of plenty from which Georgian cheeses, Caucasian specialties, delicious khachapuri, chachochbili, shashlyk, lula kebab magically appear... Besides, there are many other dishes the names of which are pleasant for an ear and awake the appetite! "Come in, dear, be my Guest!"

“Delicious Khinkali”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

We came here with the extended family specifically for khinkali festival and enjoyed it tremendously!

Khinkali festival runs this month, till the end of October. This is when dozens of various kinds of khinkali are cooked versus normal half a dozen of varieties, with meat, byproducts and also sweet fruit and berries filling. Also, when you order one portion, they bring another for free. If you’re in Kyiv this month, don’t miss it!

We tried khinkali with pork, rabbit, veal tongue, lamb and liver, and all were equally good. The dough was thin, all khinkali were juicy; the herbs were perfectly balanced for my taste. Definitely worth going here specifically for. Khinkali is on the regular menu, too; but represented by a few main varieties.

Although one could get full by khinkali alone, we also ordered some of our Georgian favourites, including chicken chakhokhbili (chicken stewed with tomatoes and vegetables), lamb shashlyk and chicken tabaka. We were not disappointed with these as well, except that my kharcho soup was colder than I would like it to be.

Sadly, the wine list of those served by glass is extremely limited, we were offered only two varieties. Tarkhun (soft estragon drink) was okay, but I tried better.

I remain mixed about the service. On one hand, the waitress was smiling and rather attentive. On another, I found her a bit pushy about our orders, and somewhat intrusive. Our request to reduce the A/C (or ventilation), if possible, was never acknowledged.

Khinkali restaurant is located in the basement, so without a single window we were trying to imagine ourselves in Georgian marani (wine cellar). The interior is not to my liking: it’s no Georgian at all, rather kitschy. So one should better take it with humour.

The halls are not too large, so the atmosphere is very cozy. On week-end there’s a playroom for kids.

Despite minor issues, I rank Khinkali among my top three favourite Georgian restaurants in Kyiv, and can definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Georgian cuisine.

“Good restaurant in the center part of Kiev”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

Very good georgian food, the negative part - it's located in a basement and has no outdoor sitting. Suggest you come with the party of 6-8 people and order a big "complex" meal, great deal!

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

Great place, great interior, service and food. Their khinkali are delicious as well as hachapuri, eggplant rolls, souses. Their shashlyk is one of the best I have ever tried in my life - juicy and tender. The price is a bit high though. The place is great for dinner with friends, celebration or for a unique dinner-date

“Great food for the value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2012

We love Georgian food and went to Khinkali to celebrate my husband's birthday. The waitress was great, in fact she was one of the best in Kiev (unfortunately she did not speak English but that was not a problem for us). She recommended several dishes for us and even offered to prepare half portions of several dishes so that we tried more variety. Georgian wine was not cheap, but they also have a cheaper Chilean wines on the list. Khachapuri was great, chahohbili absolutely delicious, as was chashushuli! Would definitely go back and recommend to my friends.

“A good Georgian group option”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2012

The interior of the restaurant is lovely. There is a waterwheel outside the dining room and the bar is covered in skins. We opted for a private non smoking table in a small private room in effect a curtained off table, The feast menu for an all in price is good value for a group. We opted for the Georgian feast but there were other options such as an Armenian feast. The food was simple but delicious for example there were bunches of fresh as a daisy herbs for dipping into a choice of three sauces. The waitress was excellent and radiated smiling efficiency. The restaurant considering its location there is a Ferrari show room a few doors down is good value for a group.
