“Great fun and great value”
Reviewed May 16, 2011

If you are travlling by train this is the perfect place, right near the station. The value for money in Belgrade overall is great and this hotel is a fine example of that. We had great food for both breakfast and dinner (included) and found the whole kitch design concept really fun. We stayed in the bill Clinton room which was very nice including a very kitsch picture of Bill. A great place to stay for a quick look at Belgrade

Stayed in Design Mr President for 4 nights from 27/04 to 30/04. We travelled as a group of 6 males, with 3 sharing a triple room and the other 3 singles. Rooms were huge and comfortable. The Service was excellent with all staff happy to help with our queries and good food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner (fully included in our package). The hotel is only 200m from the Train Station with the only downside being about a 15-20 minute walk to get to the town centre which is a bit arduous in parts as is generally uphill. Doesn't mean the hotel feels 'out of the way' though and is brilliantly located for Belgrades many bars and nightclubs (8 minute walk to the Port Side which seems to be the place for the trendiest Serbs to hang out). Overall delighted with our stay at the hotel and are literally planning our trip back already!

It was my first time in Belgrade. I stayed in Design Mr President for buisness 9-13 April. Having stayed in over 200 hotels while on buisness over the last 10 years I never came across such a gem as Mr. President. This place rocks and is..well.......not boring like most hotels! I was bit shocked when I arrived because the hotel does not look very "Design" from the outside. Once you enter you know you are in a stylish place - sculptures and all else. I was first given the room on the first floor (cannot remember President's name over the bed but he was not Jelzin!) overlooking the backyard and somewhat noisy, so asked to be relocated. Staff at the reception was professional beyond any world standards. They very promptly relocated me to the 6th floor (with President Roosevelt, I think it was room 601). Massive apartment, not the room in fact. Amazingly comfortable bed, bathroom very large and cleaner than you can imagine. Bathrobe, slippers (in pink and white for her and him!), coffee, tea, minibar, free international calls (not within Serbia though, not sure why?), free internet and buffet breakfast and supper. I do agree with someone commenting here that free supper is the same every night which for business traveller staying there for a week is bit repetitive. After walking up the hill last Sunday in a heat (not snow, not sure which is worse!) I worked out the quickest way to the Old Town is tram number 2 which stops just outside the hotel and takes you to Kalemegdan Park. Taxi is a bad choice due to heavy traffic and for non-smokers a very bad experience.
I agree totally that the staff is super super super super professional (and waiters are soooooooooooooooooooooo handsome!)

I stayed at the Hotel Mr. President for four days in January and can comfortably recommend this hotel to business or leisure travelers. It is within walking distance of the old city. The rooms are clean and service is outstanding and prompt. The front desk is pleasant and responsive. All rooms are smoke free and a good breakfast is included in the rate. Also, ALL calls (international or otherwise) are FREE to any land line in the world! I will absolutely stay at The Mr. President when I return to Belgrade.

We arrived on the train from Zagreb on a very snowy end Dec day and struggled to the nearest decent hotel (the Astoria) thinking it would be like its Zagreb namesake - it was OK but not in the same league (see my review). However when the staff told me of their nearby sister hotel the "Mr President" I thought I should check it out because I wanted to remain near the station. Well, what can I say except fabulous - huge luxurious 5-star quality rooms with big shower, bathrobes, tea/coffee making facilities. On the negative side - portrait of a former communist dictator who I really despised above my bed (cant now remember which, there were so many), and lighting was very poor.

The unlimited free international calls is for real - not a myth - even mobile numbers - and the free buffet dinner was pretty good too. Service was excellent and very friendly.

The only disadvantage is the 10/15 minute uphill trek to the centre - very perilous in the snow/ice. But, as I said, very convenient for train/bus station.

For the artistically inclined the ceramic and metal sculptures are very good.
