For the money I paid ( 249 euro for a Friday / Saturday night stay ) this place was awful. I booked an atrium view room and was given a room on the 4th floor. I immediately noticed a loud howling noise from the air conditioner units located in the centre of the atrium. I can assume the noise was even worse on the lower floors. I went to reception and asked to change rooms.
When I mentioned the noise, the receptionist said "ah yes the air conditioners" before I had time to say what the problem was. He said he would try to change my room, and ten minutes later he phoned to say he had a standard single room for me. I was pleased, however when I was shown to the room, it was one of the smallest rooms I have ever seen. I have added a picture, the laptop is a 13"macbook, for perspective. Was this room worth 125euro per night? Not in my view.
A single bed, a tiny desk and no door between the bed area and the room entrance meant I heard all the noise of the corridor. This claims to be a 4* hotel and yet they didn't even supply a pen or a bottle of complimentary water in the room. In addition, the internet was very slow and breakfast was a crowded, noisy affair, full of tour groups was my impression.
I cannot understand why this hotel, in this relatively uninteresting city, feels it can charge such an amount for such poor service. The location is good, being close to all city "attractions" and that is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel.
