“Among the best choices in Belgrade”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

BAH is a very good choice situated in the heart of Belgrade in the main pedestrian road. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very good and clean, including all the usual facilities for such kind of hotel. Breakfast was also very good. The lack of private parking is a small disadvantage for someone who is travelling by car.

The location of this hotel is excellent, right in the pedestrian zone of Belgrade. It is quiet, rooms are spacious and clean. What I liked the most is the friendliness and helpfulness of staff at the reception desk (thanks once again, guys :) A bit of a tip: try the ice cream at the small yet cosy coffee shop at the entrance of the hotel.

This little hotel right in the center, in the pedestrian area of Belgrad, is nice, clean and has a good charme. Rooms size is good, they are quiet (we were on the 7th floor)and they have good and modern furniture. Free wifi internet connection in the rooms that works good and has a good speed. The wifi internet in the common areas was not working properly. In the room the shower door was licking water on the floor, and there are no electricity plugs close to the bed. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. There is a stylish spa on the 9th floor, but the door of the sauna doesn't close properly. As a personal opinion at least the sauna should be free, but it's not, we paid 10 euros for half an hour and you can fit maximum 2 people in there. The good thing of this hotel is that is very central and you can walk around the main places of interest in town, which is a added value as taxis in Belgrade are very expensive and often try to full clients (they have a button that makes taximeter running faster and you can easily pay 30 euros for 5 minutes run). As a general opinion is a good hotel, and if you can catch a good offer the price/quality ratio is good, we paid 90 euro for a double room with breakfast included, which we didn't try. They ask for 250 euros deposit at the arrival.A pool on the 9th floor terrace would be the best thing 'cause you can see all the roofs of the central area.

Dear Mr Stefano,

Thank you for the feedback on your recent weekend stay at Belgrade Art Hotel!

My impression after reading your review is that you were generally satisfied with your stay, although you rated us with 3 , meaning average! I wish I had more details on what went wrong!

Sauna in our spa is mainly used after massage, and in that case is free. If you decide to stay at BAH again, I suggest that you try one of our amazing massages, specially created for BAH guests only!

If the situation with deposit upset you, I have to remind you that in situations when a guest doesn't want to leave a credit card details at check-in for pre authorization, as a regular security procedure, we have to ask for a cash deposit . The amount you wrote is a sum of your total stay plus 20Euros/day deposit for extras! In case you provided you credit card as a guarantee, we would not ask for this cash deposit! It is just a normal hotel safety procedure!

As for taxi service, it is always better to ask the receptionist to arrange it for you, as you will get a much better service at significantly lower rate that the one you mentioned!

I hope that despite these few less pleasant situations, you had a lovely stay, and I hope that you will stay with us in the future! Feel free to contact me directly for any possible inquiries at olja@belgradearthotel.com.

Best Regards

Olgica

We chose this hotel based on its location, and we were not disappointed.
BAH is located on the pedestrian street. You can't reach it by car, taxi drivers will have to drop you off around the corner. It is still very close and convenient. If you have your own car with you, and plan on using it often I wouldn’t recommend this part of town.

As you enter the hotel you will see an ice cream/coffee bar on your right. The ice cream can be bought from the pedestrian street as well and it is very popular (for a good reason). The small café has a couple of tables and is fairly quit; a perfect meeting point if you are traveling with others.

Further in is the front desk. Most of the employees working the front desk are very helpful and service minded. They provided us with a spare pillow, internet access, a place to store our bags after check out and transfer.

The hotel has 8 floors; on the second floor there is the breakfast area and also the wine bar. Our accommodation did not include breakfast. We did visit the wine bar, both during happy hour and for dinner. The waiter was friendly but unfocused. Many of the items in the wine menu did not actually exist; we had to change our order 5 times. The food was good and so were the cocktails.

There are a handful of rooms on each floor. Room x01 is furthest away from the elevator. It is also furthest away from the internet router which means that if you are staying in these rooms (regardless of what floor you are on) your connection will be lost, often.

The rooms were of good size. Our stay was for 5 nights so the closet space was too small, but manageable. The bathroom was medium sized and modern. It has glass doors that don’t close properly, in other words this is not a room suitable for sharing with people you are not truly comfortable with. Slippers, Bathrobes and basic hotel amenities were included.

The beds are unbelievably hard. We were a big group of 6 people of all shapes and sizes and all of us had a terrible first night. We stayed in different rooms on different floors, they all had the same type of bed. We asked for more pillows and changed our sleeping positions a bit to be able to stay at the hotel. We did consider checking out after the first night.

We never saw housekeeping and yet the room was very clean, amenities were added and towels were changed. Once there was a mix up with the towels but that was quickly remedied.

Room Tip: The router is close to the elevator, so choose a room with a higher number if you plan on using the...

My father in law and I stayed at this hotel for three nights, and we were extremely pleased with our stay. The rooms were very clean, and attention was paid to detail. Being located on a pedestrian only street was not a problem, and in fact was a benefit. No noisey traffic. The staff were very helpful in all aspects of our stay, and quickly arranged transportation for us when we required it. One evening we tried the hotel restaurant for dinner, and it was a very good experience. Great food, great service. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a stay in Belgrade.

We really wanted to love this hotel. We frequently travel to Belgrade on business and hoped to find a hotel base, but now that we've stayed at the BAH, we'll keep looking. BAH has a lot going for it. Its thumbs up features include location in the heart of the old city; stylish furnishings; adequately sized double rooms that can comfortably accommodate two people; a generous breakfast buffet with decent choices; and a helpful reception staff.

So what was lacking and why were we disappointed? Excellence is in the details especially when the cost merits elevated expectations. Specifically, this is where BAH missed the mark: slow Internet connections with frequent log-in dialog box interruptions; frayed and dingy bathroom towels; sloppy housekeeping; and shower fixtures that didn't work. More, the person who designed the bathroom lighting never had to apply makeup. To make sure I did not look like a clown, I used the bedroom mirror to see what I was doing. Another problem that has been stressed by other reviewers is that the hotel is located on a pedestrian only street. Upon arrival, the cab driver let us off across from the dilapidated post-office and pointed in the general direction. After finding someone who spoke English in one of the shops, we finally found the BAH. When we left, the hotel’s receptionist arranged for our cab back to the airport and helped us with our luggage.

The staff was clearly distressed when we pointed out the problems. Where they could be solved, they were immediately fixed. That's all well and good, but we really don't want to be concerned with these issues. As a result, our quest for a 4-star Belgrade hotel that deserves its rating continues on.

Belgrade's famous pedestrian street Knez Mihailova is the location for this smart modern hotel.

We just stayed one night in Belgrade and were extremely impressed by the high standard of the suite we stayed in. Very quiet, high quality bedding and lovely view over the rooftops of this old city. It's true you have no access by car to the hotel at it is really right in the center. Think about this when packing your bags so you've not got too much to lug around the pedestrian area.

The breakfast at the weekend was really busy, we shared a large table with other guests which was also nice. Choice of food should meet all expectations of a 4 star establishment. A young team managed the hotel and were very helpful and kind in all ways. We agreed late check out so we could just wash hands and pack final things before leaving the city on a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon. Lucky as the taxi drive told us it was marathon day the next day. So, if you're coming in by taxi ( 35 Euro we paid to the airport) and do not have a car to park this is really the hotel to go to. We booked at hotel.com and got a good weekend price.
we'd for sure stay here again.

Room Tip: we were on level 8 and happy with this spacious room, really good as no large roads nearby only pede...
