Mercure Belgrade Excelsior

A very clean hotel with friendly staff however a few problems:
Wouldn't take cash at checkout
TV control battery corroded and wouldn't work the TV
Internet is free but terrible, hard to get onto and maintain a connection which is then slow to the point of giving up unless you sit in lobby, hard connections are available but I'm the age of iPads the wifi should be better for a business hotel.
Lift woefully slow and at one point after waiting in lobby for nearly ten minutes for lift workmen pushed their way in ahead of me with building supplies and waited another ten minutes for lift again. I was on top floor so a quick run up stairs was not an option.
Breakfast woeful also with little choice. Although I ate one lunch there and that was actually very good.
Signs everywhere say no smoking but as generally in the Balkans everyone ignores and smokes with the ashtrays provided next to the no smoking signs. Even two police officers who took morning coffee ignored signs and puffed away. I now stink of smoke and am sure my lungs will suffer.
Good location however and room clean and well presented with a great bathroom and adequate in room refreshments
Staff again very good and pleasant.

We executed a multi-day recruiting event for hospitality staff at the Excelsior and obviously also stayed at the hotel.
I missed a bit a bathtube, it was sad that the bar closed on time and we were asked to leave,
and the noise from the road is disturbing for a open-window-sleeper.
All in all a pleasant experience though - the staff was helpful, rooms nice and clean, and the location very suitable for us.

Room Tip: Away from the main road is definitely more quiet

In a city of few good yet reasonably priced hotels, Excelsior is definitely an interesting choice; it has been around for a very long time, but it was recently remodeled; original facade was kept, so the mix of modern amenities and old world looks tends to be appealing. Nice staff, comfortable rooms, and unbeatable location at $100 a night. Not bad at all.

The Excelsior has a position that allows you to be close to the centre, without being forced to leave the car far away.
Located just close to the Parliament, the hotel is in a recently renovated eclectic white old building.
The rooms, except for the “monk room” are spacious quiet. The toilets, all with shower, are very clean and with soft, white, perfumed towels.
The view on the park and the city is good and the big street just in front of the façade doesn’t annoy the sleep at all.
The comfort is very good and the sound insulation between the rooms provides the requested privacy.
The breakfast is international, with some local tastes. Maybe, some more typology of croissants would be appreciated, but it could be a plus.
As I said, the location is perfect: you can leave the car in the covered parking just in front of the hotel and walk to the centre in 10 minutes.
The girls at reception are all very cute and the guys are always smiling and trying to help you as much as they can.
The hotel never stopped to renovate the interiors and, every time I return here (almost once per month) I can find something new.
Finally, the cleanness, the comfort and the kindness make this hotel one of the best ones in Belgrade, with a very good value!

This hotel is a good choice!
Good price, location is very central, staff are really nice and helpful with everything, clean and attractive surroundings, spacious twin rooms, air conditioning, room service, minibar, safe, restaurant and lift.
Breakfast was pretty good, but it was terribly uncomfortable that it was allowed to smoke in the breakfast room. Nice with free Wifi, but it was somewhat unstable connection. One thing that was a little cumbersome, there was only one key per room and no way to lock the door from within without a key.

All in all we are very satisfied, especially with the location and the friendly staff who told us about places to see and as reserved space for restaurants and nightclubs for us if we wanted.
We will gladly return!

We stayed just for three nights but it was a good experience. The room was spacious, clean, quiet, the staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast is a feast and dinner was good. The location is excellent for walking to the city centre and to the main attractions.
