We wanted to stay at a new, modern hotel that was non-smoking (as smoking is so common in Romania and we heard many other hotels allowed or had formerly allowed smoking inside). We also wanted a quiet hotel since staying in the center of the city can often be noisy. The hotel was perfect for our needs!

As a light sleeper, I was thrilled that the hotel was pin-drop quiet. Our room was modern and very clean. Since the hotel is newly built, it did not have any smoke smell in it. The room had its own thermostat with air conditioning and heating and even though it was winter, our room was very well insulated and warm without us having to use the heating.

The hotel offered a large spread of breakfast items (included in the room rate) and we were very happy with the large selection and great taste of the breakfast selection.

The hotel is in the north part of the city - not a long drive from the airport (but you don't hear airplanes). We had tours arranged for our entire trip so we didn't mind being outside the center of town however if you want to be able to walk around the center of town then this hotel probably isn't best located for you. There are other hotels next door to this one so we were able to eat at their restaurants too for some variety. Also a famous traditional Romanian restaurant is in the same parking lot at this hotel so that is very convenient.

An interesting story is that we actually were supposed to stay at the Hotel Christina (#1 rated currently on Trip Advisor - booked over 2 months ago). However, we got a phone call on my husband's blackberry while we were at the airport in London about to board our flight to Bucharest telling us that they no longer had a room for us! They said that a pipe had burst in the room we were supposed to stay in (understandable - things happen) and that they thought that they could have the room ready/fixed in time for our stay but it turned out that by end of business on Friday afternoon that they could not. We found this unacceptable that they notified us so last minute! If they knew the pipe had broke and they were trying to fix it they should have given us a heads up about it sooner rather than call us last minute when they figured out it could not be fixed in time. What if we had already boarded our flight???? Then we would have arrived at the hotel and then been told that we didn't have a room! Hotel Christina told us that they did not have any other rooms at their hotel but that they had arranged us a room at the Howard Johnson for the same rate. While it was a nice gesture, my husband and I were very displeased as the Howard Johnson does not have the attributes that we chose the Hotel Christina for (quiet, not in the city center, non-smoking) so it was not an appropriate substitution. Also, we had pre-arranged airport transfers and tour pick-up/drop-offs at Hotel Christina and it took me complaining and telling them that it was unacceptable customer service for them to acquiesce and offer to pay for our taxi to/from the other hotel. While this was nice of them to agree to that, we still were not happy being forced into staying at the Howard Johnson (which we would never have chosen on our own) so luckily, we were able to get ahold of the company that we were taking our tours with and they were able to book us a hotel here at the Ramada Plaza.

Things turned out for the best as the Ramada Plaza ended up being the perfect hotel for our needs as it was quiet, modern, 100% non-smoking, newly built, had American size King beds (not 2 twins pushed together like some hotels do) and a delicious large breakfast spread. We would stay here again!

Stayed at Ramada plaza during a short visit to Bucharest in late 2010. Nice rooms, clean, all basic amenities and a very good breakfast. Only downside - Its at some distance from city centre and one needs to plan well given Bucharest traffic. Recommended for short stay.

Having visited twice in the last few months, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The accommodation is clean and modern with free wi-fi. The only negative is that the water pressure of the shower was not great and during the afternoon the water wasn't hot. Beds are very comfy and large (King size). Air-con was excellent for when I stayed during the summer. Other helpful things is that there is a printer available in the lobby for all guests to use (no additional charges).

The staff were friendly and efficient.

Overall a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Higher floor recommended for a nicer view - there a virtually no buildings obstructing the view.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, since I stayed for about a week there (with a group of 7 people).
I had business at Romexpo which is extremely close to this hotel, since walking distance is about 6-7 minutes and if you absolutely have to go by car it takes about 1-2 minutes.
Rooms are very nice (huge mirrors) and an extremely good bed. Everything was more than fine and the staff was very kind to us. Restaurant was poor in choices, but food OK. There are 2 restaurants nearby (Taverna Sarbului and Casa Doina) that are at walking distance and the food there is VERY good.
In only give 4 point instead of 5 because:
- breakfast staff continually blocked a section of the eating area at around 9.30 (breakfast is until 10) and would not clean the used tables (or would clean them at a very slow pace);
- if the hotel is full, there are some problems with parking spaces since a hotel of this size has only a few places to leave your car.

With just one exception at the front desk, I found the staff to be incredibly hard working and responsive at this hotel. The price was very reasonable, about $70 through Expedia, which was less than going directly through Ramada. The breakfasts were very good, and they did an excellent job of making sure there was always plenty of food available. I was impressed to see that even the managers pitched in and helped and they went out of their way to be welcoming. They had a wonderful little machine which made all kinds of coffee drinks. The room was quiet and comfortable. There were two computers in the lobby which provide free internet access and also wi-fi available. There was a small gym that I used several times, and it was open 24/7. The disadvantage is that this hotel is quite a way from the city center and if you use public transportation, it is necessary to take a bus and then the metro. It took about 45 minutes to get into town.

Outside of breakfast, the hotel meals were mediocre and more expensive than eating at a charming cafe in town. The wine choices were terrible...I did have a nice wine at one of the cafes in town, but the options in the hotel were not good. Definitely stay away from the house wines. If you do stay here, I would recommend going to the National Village Museum, which is within walkng distance. In addition, there is a nice park nearby.

Room Tip: I think that all of the rooms are fine....there is not really a view but the area is fairly quiet.

Dear Madam,

Thank you very much for your review. Your positive comments are highly appreciated and very helpful to motivate our staff in order to continue exceeding our guests expectations.
Positioned in the northern part of the Capital, our hotel is a few minutes (15-20) away from the city center but due to the rush hour it will take time to arrive at any destination by car. Thank you again for being our guest and will wait for you next time when you will come to Bucharest.

Sincerely,

Daniel Ben-Yehuda

We enjoyed a two night stay at the Ramada Plaza in early September 2011. The hotel is situated in an area of several large hotel compelxes, all of which appear to have been constructed after the fall of the communist regime.. The location is not within easy walking distance to central city historic sites but I think a good location for business or conventions.

The hotel is clean. Room are easily accessible by multiple elevators. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. The bathroom is small but more than adequate. Water pressure and temperature are very good. The in-room safe is large enough for a laptop, a larger sized camera, and miscellaneous items.

We found the hotel staff to be accommodating. I had questions about internet access which were fully answered. Wifi in the room worked well.

We ate breakfasts, one lunch, and two dinners in the hotel restaurant. The breakfast buffet provided a wide choice of items. We found the meals of good quality. Meal service at lunch and dinner was a bit slow but the food was good with ample menu selections.

We would stay at this hotel again.
