The detail is out of this world. It was founded in the 16th Century and it stands timeless. There were a lot of devoted people praying so we tried to stay out of the way.

One must go inside to see even more beauty. See the pictures as my words do it no justice.

I agree with all the positive things that other reviewers have written but I want to add something about the Roman remains that we were permitted to see today. A kind man opened a gate opposite the church entrance and in a lovely landscaped garden and under clear Perspex we saw some remarkably well preserved columns and other artefacts from the 2nd Century which were discovered and excavated in mid 19th Century. If you visit the monastery you may be lucky like us to see this treasure!

Just slightly off the main tourist part in what feels like the newer part of Bucharest - but still very close to everything else - the monastery is a must see for any visitor to Bucharest. Unlike most of the churches in the city, this one seems to be quite crowded and many groups seem to be here to worship a particular chapel. The grounds are well maintained and tranquil and the inside of the main church is absolutely stunning.

Stunningly beautiful building, with amazingly detailed frescos inside, and decorating the bell tower outside. The noise of the nearby roads and city faded to nothing, and there was a real sense of peace inside the church. If you need somewhere to come and reflect, or just enjoy the quiet - this is ideal. There is a box just inside where you can leave a small donation - which help with the upkeep and are greatly appreciated.

Aside from admiring the building or the frescos, or savouring the peace, there's not much to do. But sometimes amongst all the busy-ness and fast paced life, this is ideal. I definitely recommend you take 30 minutes out of your time in Bucharest to come here
