Time for a realistic assessment of Agentia H Accommodation. My family (two 40-somethings and a 10-year-old) rented a two-bedroom apartment here for four nights in February just after a massive snowstorm pretty much crippled the entire country. We arrived on a day that the apartment office was closed, so a friend picked up the key for us the day before, picked us up at the airport, and took us to our accommodation. At first glance, this place is a Soviet-style concrete apartment building with no charm whatsoever. The front entry is a bit scary - dirty and smelly. And the lift was a fright - we used it only for getting our luggage in and out. It was tiny and the scariest thing I've ever been in. But our room was on the 7th floor, so the steps weren't really an option with luggage. The 7th floor hall was only slightly better than the entry area, but once through the door of our room, it was an entirely different atmosphere. We entered into a tiny living room (loveseat and a TV mounted on the wall), with a little kitchen table & chairs and kitchen to the right. Everything was clean and bright and quite useable - we did not cook in the room, but we could have. We did use the coffeepot and the microwave. There were two spacious bedrooms with large, comfortable beds, balconies off each room with a city view (and unfortunately filled with snow during our stay), and one bathroom. The bathroom needed some serious repair and updating, but was adequate. The free internet was strong and steady.
We chose this place because it was cheap - we actually slept only two nights at this place and stayed at another hotel in the mountains for two nights, but we wanted to leave the majority of our stuff at the Bucharest hotel instead of hauling it to the mountains with our friends in their small car, so this seemed to be our best option. It worked out perfectly for us. We felt safe in the apartment, it was bright and cheery in our room, and once we got past the entry and the elevator, everything was fine. It was somewhat of an adventure, though, I will admit! And our Romanian host, who lives with his family in Bucharest, thought we were crazy, but he liked the apartment too and ended up agreeing that we had done the right thing. This is not the place for everyone - if you're looking for a perfect hotel, this ain't the place. But for an inexpensive, centrally located apartment in Bucharest, it worked. And for our final stamp of approval: we would stay there again.
