“Worst place in Romania”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2007

This was the worst place we stayed in, in all of Romania. There was no hot water for the two nights we were there, and they refused to call out a plumber.

The linen was dirty, and there was too few towels for the four of us. The place was falling apart, including a light fitting that fell off in the night and landed on my wife.

I would never stay there again, steer clear.

the apartments were very large and comfortable indeed!! there was big bedroom, sofas, dinner table, small kitchen, bathroom for an ok price! the hotel is situated in a nice area, close to the centre with no noise from traffic! ..... but..... when about to use the towels we found out these had already been used!!!! threw the towels on the floor and used my own face towel for my shower.. next morning the towels i had on the floor were hang up by the cleaning lady. this is the minor of this hotel that really dissapointed us!

We landed at Otopeni Aiport and it rented a car. It took us about 2 hours and 30 minutes to find Residence Villa Marchisa! well, for one we did not have a map and i would strongly recommend buying a detailed bucharest map as soon as possible. We asked a lot of taxi drivers and even they had to spend 15 minutes trying to locate it as it is located in an extremely tiny street (abt 8 houses maybe). Getting there is quite convoluted, it was night and the place seemed a bit deserted and dark with dogs barking from different houses. Naturally we werent too happy roaming around dark alleys after dark. However, once we found the place, we were very pleased with the apartment. It was big and comfortable (except the mattress, which was ok), the washroom was excellent and everything was very neat and clean. there was a TV and everything else we needed, including a stove, plates, spoons and fork etc. (no microwave in the one we stayed in). One more thing, it is close to all the main attraction, its just that it is located in an older part of the city, where there are many small streets running circles around each other, so it becomes hard to find. Nobody in bucharest would know 'strada Licurg' (the street it is on) by name. On the way back we chose NH bucharest which was way easy to find, abt the same price and had equally nice rooms.
