“Four star oasis in a "strange" part of town”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Took of bit of finding this place, but having doubled back on myself a couple of times, wandering past a few locals drowning whatever the Romanian equivalent of Diamond White is, passing a number of derelict buildings, a squat and what seemed to be an underground nightclub was dreading what I might find at the end of my journey. Very pleasantly surprised when I reached my destination. From the first blast of ice cold air on a sweltering afternoon to the cheery reception staff, the welcome was as friendly as any I'd had on my trip through Romania even though my attire was starting to show the strain! Big rooms, ample beds, spic and span and in top notch condition for one to crash out after a hard day's exploring. Attentive service at breakfast, perhaps too attentive but a reasonable selection to fuel the day ahead. Just a minor note if you're not a heavy sleeper, there seems to be a farm in very close vicinity and I was woken by a loud cock at the crack of dawn! Then again its one of the curious chrams of this often maddening but always endearing city.

A nice hotel to stay for a couple of days while visiting Bucharest (very close to the city's old center, like a 15-20 mins walk maximum). Stayed with some of my clients for 2 nights there. Nice people and staff. Clean rooms, with everything you would expect from a 4 stars hotel. Breakfast is ok, can't be compared to the one of a 5 stars hotel, but I think you have enough to get you ready for the road! Their reception staff is great, especially their sales manager (Mr. Alexandru) which gave us a lot of useful info including a map of Bucharest, a bit of history, directions, etc. Overall a nice experience!

PS: indeed their underground garage is very small, but I parked the car without much problems and they helped me to get it out as well.

Stayed at the Armonia in September and booked again (direct) for May 2013.
Room even better than previous visit at rear, very quiet and peaceful.
Rooms are clean and serviced Daily.
Beds are comfortable , bathrooms are large with every facility, hair driers, dressing gowns, all toiletries and even toothbrushes and toothpaste.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, special thanks to Marrian, Dan and Catalin.
Typical Romanian breakfasts are fantastic always fresh and if you want something else , English etc. the staff will oblige.
We will definitely be back.
Rooms including breakfast is 60-68 Euros / night for 2 people which is very reasonable.

Even if it's quite close to the old center, the little Paris as they still like to call Lipscani (main street wannabe), the hotel is the only building in the area that isn't falling apart. And this is the only good thing about it. Parking is quite risky, you have to be extremely careful to drive your car into their underground bunker, because that's definitely not a garage, just one of the usual improvisations around here. You immediately have to pay your bill, even if you're exhausted after so much driving. So far so good. The aisle to your room is a real adventure, since the motion sensing lights constantly play a trick on you. After you stumbled over a few chairs/armchairs and managed to get out of this nightmare uninjured, you can finally relax and call it a night. But surprise! The room is ice cold, the bed linen showing signs of not being properly cleaned / not having been changed (hair strains all over), used-up towels which a century ago were probably white. But at least you can finally have a nice hot shower to wash down all the unpleasant aspects. Surprise again, no hot water! It took at least 20 minutes to get warm water. Breakfast was most certainly the poorest I've ever had in a 4 star hotel, the worst quality juices, tea, coffee, etc. Thank god I only stayed 1 night.

Nice hotel, very polite staff, good location, rooms are up to 4 star standards. Available parking, free wifi, free breakfast in bed. For the New Year Eve they even gave us a bottle of champagne. Staff speaks English. Negative things...let me think, maybe noise from trams when window is open.

I had a grand time during my stay there. All the necessary comforts/modern amenities (bathroom facilities, chairs, etc. were up to the required standard) were provided and the service was impeccable, as the staff members were quite courteous and friendly (even going beyond the call of duty in order to help me make a number of business arrangements and allowed me to use a conference room in the hotel). They also spoke pretty good English and there were absolutely no issues with regard to communication, though it’s of course always a nice gesture to learn a few expressions in Romanian. The location was convenient as well; the hotel is not very far from the Bucharest city centre and there were plenty of quality dining establishments nearby. The speed of the wireless Internet connection was acceptable (ask for the password, there are two networks to choose from) and the breakfast had sufficient variety and everything tasted well. I had dinner only once at this hotel and felt quite satisfied as well. Furthermore, the hotel was kept clean at all times and could not be considered "old style". The view from the window is picturesque, though there are also some dilapidated buildings to be seen. There was some noise pollution due to the stray dogs that were especially vociferous at night (they were not intimidating, though, and had their charm) and the mosquitoes posed a bit of a nuisance, but these could hardly be considered concerns and did not really affect our stay in a negative way. I was also slightly surprised due to the fact that the daily list of visitors was kept secret/away from the prying eyes of the general public (though I guess a person who was sneaky enough could grab a peek). However, I understand that this is a standard practice for many hotels. The hotel could also be a bit difficult to find if you are a first time visitor to Bucharest. However, I can have absolutely no complaints regarding the location and one shouldn't be afraid to pose questions to locals, most of them will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

All in all, an excellent hotel for both business and holiday travelers.

Room Tip: I stayed on the second floor and there were absolutely no issues with my room.

This Hotel is truly EXCELLENT, The staff are lovely, very helpfull and cant do enough for you.
The Hotel is spotless, nice clean rooms comfortable beds and air conditioning. The bathrooms are a good size, Marble tiles throughout, Bath and shower, bidet wash basin and toilet.
House keeping is to a high standard, the rooms are cleaned daily and new towels provided daily.
Breakfasts are very nice , typical Romanian, however they will also cook you a fried English breakfast if you wish.
There are no kettles in the rooms for tea or coffee but you can get a cup of coffee or hot water for tea the lounge.
I have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Armonia to ANYONE who would like to visit Bucharest.....the Hotel is also located within easy walking distance of the centre.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter
