We had a couple of days in Bucharest at the end of our holiday and decided to explore this wonderful city with our guide Anita. The "Communism Tour" was a remarkable insight into the recent past, delving into the cultural impact of the Ceausescu regime, the architectural diversity of the city, and the impact on everyones everyday lives, and how the Revolution changed Romania forever.. Anita's stories, humour, memories and anecdotes really bring the city and pastimes alive, and shows you some amazing locations that will amaze you with their beauty....we even tried some communist chocolate !
We also did the "Absolutely Bucharest Tour" which winds its intricate paths through "Old Town Bucharest" once called Little Paris, through the windy cobbled streets with 500 year old Orthodox churches hidden away, statues of the Romanian Royal Family, and dined in a 19th century taverner that is SO beautiful you have to see it. The food was AMAZING !! The architecture of the buildings is stunning with frescos and paintings and sculptures...just an incredibly beautiful city. Anita has an encyclopedic knowledge of Bucharest, and her enthusiasm is infectious and we throughly enjoyed both tours. We can only give her 5 stars...we want to give her 10 ! Fabulous tour, great value for money, and very highly recommended, thank you Anita !More
